ความสำคัญ

เป็นประเพณีบูชาเสาหลักเมืองเชียงใหม่ ซึ่งมีชื่อว่าเสาอินทขิล เสาหลักเมืองเดิมมีมาตั้งแต่เมื่อครั้งสร้างเมืองเชียงใหม่ และประดิษฐานที่วัดสะดือเมือง ต่อมาได้เสื่อมสภาพไป พระยากาวิละซึ่งได้ฟื้นฟูประเพณีอินทขิลขึ้นใหม่ จึงได้สร้างและย้ายมาประดิษฐานไว้ ณ วัดสวนดอกจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้ ชาวเชียงใหม่ถือว่าเป็นสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์คู่บ้านคู่เมืองอย่างหนึ่ง

พิธีกรรม

เริ่มด้วยพ่อหมอพฤฒาจารย์กระทำพิธีบูชาครู สักการะวิญญาณบรรพบุรุษ อารักษ์ และผีเจ้านายทั้งหลาย เทศบาลนครเชียงใหม่จัดขบวนแห่พระพุทธรูปฝนแสนห่าไปรอบเมืองให้ประชาชนสรงน้ำ ที่บริเวณวัดมีขันบูชาเสาอินทขิลสำหรับให้ประชาชนนำดอกไม้ไปบูชา (เรียกว่า ใส่ขันดอก)
