ปัจจุบันใช้เป็นสถานที่จัดแสดงนิทรรศการถาวร ศิลป์แผ่นดิน โดยสถาบันสิริกิติ์ สวนจิตรลดา ตั้งอยู่ใกล้กับพระบรมรูปทรงม้าและพระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ
พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคมเริ่มก่อสร้างในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ เพื่อเป็นที่รับรองแขกเมืองและประชุมปรึกษาราชการแผ่นดิน ตัวอาคารเป็นอาคารหินอ่อนแบบเรอเนอซองส์ของประเทศอิตาลีและแบบนีโอคลาสสิก ภายนอกประดับด้วยหินอ่อนจากเมืองคารารา ประเทศอิตาลี ใช้เวลาในการก่อสร้างทั้งสิ้นแปดปี
