ผู้วิจัยไดดำเนินการสร้างและตรวจสอบคุณภาพเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณตามขั้นตอน ดังนี้
1) ศึกษาแนวคิดทฤษฎีและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับพฤติกรรมการเลี้ยงดูเด็ก
2) นำกรอบแนวคิดที่กำหนดมาสร้างเครื่องมือในลักษณะแบบสอบถาม
เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการเลี้ยงดูเด็กโดยแบบสอบถามแบ่งเป็น 3 สวนคือ
สวนที่ 1 ข้อมูลทั่วไปของผู้ปกครอง
สวนที่ 2 พฤติกรรมการส่งเสริมการเจริญเติบโตและพัฒนาการเด็กวัยก่อนเรียน
- การเจริญเติบโต คือ น้ำหนักและส่วนสูง โดยการส่งเสริมการเจริญเติบโต มี 2 ด้าน คือ ด้านอาหาร และด้านการออกกำลังกาย
- พัฒนาการเด็ก ทั้ง 4 ด้าน คือ ด้านร่างกาย ด้านอารมณ์สังคม ด้านสติปัญญา และ ด้านจริยธรรม
ส่วนที่ 3 การส่งต่อความรู้การส่งเสริมการเจริญเติบโตและพัฒนาการเด็กวัยก่อนเรียนของผู้ดูแลเด็กให้กับผู้ปกครอง และการนำความรู้ไปใช้ของผู้ปกครอง
โดยใช้เกณฑ์การประเมินแบบ ลิเคิร์ท สเกล (Likert Scale) แบ่งเป็น 3 ระดับ คือ ไม่ปฏิบัติ ปฏิบัติบางครั้ง และปฏิบัติสม่ำเสมอ โดยกําหนดเกณฑ์การประเมินเปน 3 ระดับ ดังนี้
ไม่ปฏิบัติ หมายถึง ผูปกครองปฏิบัติตอเด็กน้อยกว่า 1 วัน ต่อ สัปดาห์
ปฏิบัติบางครั้ง หมายถึง ผูปกครองปฏิบัติตอเด็ก 2 - 4 วัน ต่อ สัปดาห์
ปฏิบัติสม่ำเสมอ หมายถึง ผูปกครองปฎิบัติตอเด็กมากกวา 5 วัน ต่อ สัปดาห์
