การศึกษาค้นคว้าเรื่องดินหอมปรับอากาศ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อทดสอบประสิทธิภาพและศึกษาการทำดินหอมปรับอากาศ เพราะในปัจจุบันสภาวะกลิ่นอับเป็นมลพิษต่อระบบหายใจ หากเราใช้สารเคมีมาปรับอากาศก็จะมีราคาแพงและมีอันตรายต่อระบบหายใจ คณะผู้ศึกษาจึงนำพืชที่มีกลิ่นหอม ได้แก่ จำปี มะลิ กุหลาบ และมะกรูด มาทดลองสกัดกลิ่น เพื่อเปรียบเทียบชนิดของพืชที่จะใช้ปรับอากาศ โดยนำดินวิทยาศาสตร์มาเป็นตัวดูดซับกลิ่นและเมื่อนำไปไว้ในที่ที่มีกลิ่นอับ ดินหอมปรับอากาศจะมีกลิ่นออกมา ตัวแปรที่ใช้ในการศึกษา ได้แก่ ตัวแปรต้น คือ ชนิดของดอกไม้ ตัวแปรตาม คือ ความคงทนของกลิ่น ตัวแปรควบคุม คือ ภาชนะที่บรรจุ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษา คือ แบบสอบถาม สถิติที่ใช้ คือ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน
ผลการวิจัยพบว่าสารสกัดจากพืชที่ปรับอากาศได้ดีที่สุด คือ จำปี รองลงมา คือ มะลิ กุหลาบและมะกรูดตามลำดับ
