การศึกษาการวางแผนและการจัดการคมนาคมขนส่งทางน้ำ โครงการเรือโดยสารคลองรังสิต
จากแผนพัฒนาจังหวัดปทุมธานีและเทศบาลนครรังสิตนั้น มุ่งเน้นในเรื่องของการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน ให้รองรับการพัฒนาที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาพื้นที่คลองรังสิต ซึ่งมีโครงการเรือโดยสารคลองรังสิต เพื่อใช้เป็นเส้นทางในคมนาคมขนส่งทางน้ำ บรรเทาปัญหาการจราจรติดขัด และส่งเสริมให้เกิดการท่องเที่ยวที่ยั่งยืนบริเวณคลองรังสิต งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อการวางแผนและการจัดการโครงการเรือโดยสารคลองรังสิต โดยใช้วิธีการเก็บข้อมูลแบบสอบถามจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 400 ชุด และแบบจำลองต่อเนื่อง 4 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1.แบบจำลองการเกิดการเดินทาง 2.แบบจำลองการกระจายการเดินทาง 3.แบบจำลองการเลือกรูปแบบการเดินทาง และ 4.แบบจำลองการแจกแจงการเดินทาง เพื่อวิเคราะห์ความต้องการเดินทางที่เกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบัน และปริมาณการเดินทางในอนาคต เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางในการวางแผนและจัดการโครงการในรูปแบบคมนาคมขนส่งทางน้ำ
จากการวิจัยพบว่า การคมนาคมขนส่งทางน้ำสอดคล้องกับความต้องการของประชาชนในการเลือกใช้บริการและเป็นทางเลือกที่ดีทางเลือกหนึ่งที่สามารถช่วยลดระยะเวลาการเดินในช่วงเวลาเร่งด่วนได้อีกด้วย ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้บรรลุวัตถุประสงค์ จึงได้จัดทำแผนงานของผังแม่บทและแนวทางการปรับปรุงโครงการเรือโดยสารคลองรังสิต
