สถานภาพการถูกคุกคามในประเทศไทย สำนักงานนโยบายและแผนสิ่งแวดล้อม (2540) ได้กำหนดสถานภาพของสัตว์ป่าในประเทศไทย จากการถูกคุกคามจากปัจจัยต่าง ๆ จนสัตว์ป่าสูญพันธุ์
ผลการวิเคราะห์สถานภาพของสัตว์ป่าในอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาใหญ่และอุทยานแห่งชาติทับลาน ตามการถูกคุกคามในประเทศไทย พบว่ามีสัตว์ป่าที่อยู่ในสถานภาพใกล้สูญพันธุ์ยิ่งจำนวน 4 ชนิด ประกอบด้วยสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนม 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ วัวแดง และแมวป่า นก 1 ชนิด ได้แก่ นกอ้ายงั่ว สัตว์เลื้อยคลาน 1 ชนิด ได้แก่ จระเข้น้ำจืด สัตว์ป่าที่อยู่ในสถานภาพใกล้สูญพันธุ์จำนวน 9 ชนิด ประกอบด้วยสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนม 7 ชนิด ได้แก่ ชะนีมงกุฎ
นากใหญ่ธรรมดา ชะมดแปลงลายแถบ ชะมดแปลงลายจุด เสือไฟ แมวลายหินอ่อน และช้างป่า นก 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ นกกระสาแดง และนกกระสานวล สัตว์ป่าที่อยู่ในสถานภาพมีแนวโน้มใกล้สูญพันธุ์จำนวน 18 ชนิด ได้แก่ ชะนีมือขาว หมาใน และหมีควาย เป็นต้น นก 4 ชนิด ได้แก่ เหยี่ยวเล็กตะโพกขาว ไก่ฟ้าพญาลอ นกเปล้าท้องขาว และนกหัวขวานใหญ่สีดำ สัตว์ป่าที่อยู่ในสถานภาพมีความเสี่ยงน้อย/กลุ่มที่ใกล้ถูกคุกคามจำนวน 12 ชนิด เป็นนก
ทั้งหมด ได้แก่ เป็ดคับแค นกอินทรีดำ และเหยี่ยวภูเขา เป็นต้น
