Maldives was not destination on my list, for several reasons..expensive resorts, and what to do there with 2 teenagers. Then I found Kudahuvadhoo Inn. At first, I taught it willl be boring to my kids, but on contrary, they enjoyed much more than in some places,with a lot more facilities.
Choosing Kudahovadhoo enables also to feel culture and life of Maldives. The island does not have bikini beach, as on the place of previous one, they are building airport. Instead of that, owners of guesthouse will take you to beautiful nearby uninhabited islands, where you can feel all beauty of nature. They were also bringing lunch to us there, so we was full day on the beach. Islands have beautiful coral reafs, where you can enjoy snorkeling. Among colorful fish, we encountered there manta and baby sharks. (trips are charged for fair price - 10 USD/person).
People on the island are very friendly, nice. There is nothing much to do there except evening walk, or colecting shells, but, after all day on the beach, we felt tired for anything else.
Hotel and stuff:
The most friendly and helpfull stuff. We all enjoyed their company and kindness. We were satisfied with our rooms...lets say basic, but if you compare with Greece for ex., this is high above incl. aircon. Food is tasy, Maldivian. You will have opportunity to enjoy exotic fruits, like papaya, mango, coconut.., also different fish. They prepared for kids separately, as they are not really fisheaters. Our hosts prepared for us nice barbeque farewell diner with other guests, which we apreciated very much. You can book full board, and that is more than enough. I sugesst it as there are no other places to eat on the island.
Location:
Be prepared that speadboat runs 2 times er week, so you might have to stay one night at Male or Hulhumale. Ask hosts, or book by your self.. It takes 3,5 to 4h from Male to Kudahuvadhoo or vice vs.
Waether:
Since we were wvsiting place in "rainy season", I was afraid that we will loose some days. On contrary, rain falls for usualy 15 min. Max was 1h. I did not feel it as disturbance, because afterwards, sun is shining again. Once we was caught in the rain shower, but decided to swim, and rain past quickly.
What else to say..this is the first time that my teenagers said that they would like to stay longer.
