จากกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่อง รูปทรงเรขาคณิตและปริมาตรพวกเราได้เรียนรู้ถึงลักษณะของรูปทรง การหาพื้นที่ และการหาปริมาตรของรูปทรงต่างๆ ทำให้พวกเราเกิดข้อสงสัยว่าปริมาตรของรูปทรงที่ได้จากการคำนวณโดยใช้สูตรนั้นมีความสัมพันธ์กันอย่างไรและเราอยากที่จะทราบว่าในปริมาตรและความสูงเท่ากันนั้นรูปทรงเรขาคณิตจะเป็นอย่างไร เราจึงได้คิดหาวิธีที่จะพิสูจน์ทฤษฎีดังกล่าวโดยใช้เศษเทียนมาหลอมเป็นรูปทรงต่างๆเนื่องจากว่าโรงเรียนของพวกเราอยู่ใกล้วัดเห็นเศษเทียนจากการประกอบพิธีทางศาสนาที่ไม่ได้นำไปใช้ประโยชน์อะไรพวกเราจึงได้คิดที่จะนำเอาเศษเทียนเหล่านั้นมาใช้หล่อเป็นรูปทรงเรขาคณิตเพื่อพิสูจน์ตามข้อสงสัยดังกล่าวนอกจากนี้พวกเรายังได้นำเอาพืชสมุนไพรที่สามารถไล่ยุงได้มาผสมลงในการหล่อเทียนเป็นรูปทรงต่างๆเพื่อใช้เป็นเทียนสมุนไพรไล่ยุงและนำไปใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันได้จริง และนอกจากจะทำใช้เองในครัวเรือนแล้วยังสามารถทำขายออกจำหน่ายเพื่อสร้างรายได้ให้กับตัวเองได้อีกด้วย
