สุเทพ (2541) ได้สรุปว่า สิ่งจูงใจที่ใช้เป็นเครื่องมือกระตุ้นให้บุคคลเกิดความพึงพอใจ มีด้วยกัน 4 ประการ คือ

สิ่งจูงใจที่เป็นวัตถุ (material inducement) ได้แก่ เงิน สิ่งของ หรือสภาวะทางกายที่ให้แก่ผู้
ประกอบกิจกรรมต่างๆ

สภาพทางกายที่พึงปรารถนา (desirable physical condition ) คือ สิ่งแวดล้อมในการ
ประกอบกิจกรรมต่างๆ ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งสำคัญอย่างหนึ่งอันก่อให้เกิดความสุขทางกาย

ผลประโยชน์ทางอุดมคติ (ideal benefaction) หมายถึง สิ่งต่างๆที่สนองความต้องการของ
บุคคล



ผลประโยชน์ทางสังคม (association attractiveness) หมายถึง ความสัมพันธ์ฉันท์มิตรกับผู้
ร่วมกิจกรรม อันจะทำให้เกิดความผูกพัน ความพึงพอใจและสภาพการร่วมกัน อันเป็นความพึงพอใจของบุคคลในด้านสังคมหรือความมั่นคงในสังคม ซึ่งจะทำให้รู้สึกมีหลักประกันและมีความมั่นคงในการประกอบกิจกรรม
