ตั้งอยู่บริเวณเทือกเขาพังเหยในเขต ต.บ้านไร่ อ.เทพสถิต จ.ชัยภูมิ จากกรุงเทพฯ ใช้เส้นทางสระบุรี - ชัยบาดาล ต่อด้วยทางหลวงหมายเลข 205 เส้นทางชัยบาดาล - เทพสถิต - ชัยภูมิ ก่อนถึงอำเภอเทพสถิต จะมี ทางแยกซ้ายมือไปป่าหินงาม อีก 29 กิโลเมตร หากเดินทางเส้นทางจาก จ.นครราชสีมา ก็จะใช้เส้นทางนครราชสีมา - เพชรบูรณ์ โดยจะวิ่งผ่าน ต.หนองบัวโคก ผ่านบ.คำปิง เข้าสู่อำเภอเทพสถิต และเลี้ยวขวาบริเวณ สามแยกเพื่อจะไปในเส้นทาง เทพสถิต - ซับใหญ่ และหากท่านมาจากตัว เมืองชัยภูมิ ก็ต้องใช้เส้นทาง ระเหว - ซับใหญ่ - เทพสถิต เมื่อออกจากตัว กิ่งอ.ซับใหญ่จะถึงทางแยกขึ้นอุทยานฯ ก่อนที่จะถึง อ.เทพสถิต...


:: แหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่สำคัญในอุทยานแห่งชาติป่าหินงาม ::

"ป่าหินงาม" หรือ (ลานหินงาม) อยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกของที่ทำการอุทยานฯ ทั่วบริวเวณเรียงรายไปด้วยหินก้อนน้อย ใหญ่ รูปร่างแปลก ๆ มากมายในพื้นที่กว่า 10 ไร่ เป็นลานหินซึ่งเกิดจากการกัดเซาะดิน และเนื้อหินทรายมานานนับลานปี วาง เรียงรายสลับซับซ้อน อยู่เต็มลานบ้างก็มีรูปรา่างเหมือนกับถ้วยฟุตบอลโลก บ้างก็เหมือนกบเรด้า และรูปต่าง ๆ แล้วแต่จะ จินตนาการ แต่เมื่อดูแล้วชวนให้เกิดความเพลิดเพลินใจเป็นยิ่งนัก...

"ทุ่งดอกกระเจียว" เกิดจากดอกกระเจียวป่า หลากหลายสายพันธุ์ ที่พร้อมใจกันขึ้นรายรอบบริเวณ ของอุทยานฯและจะมีอยู่บริเวณหนึ่งใช้พื้นที่หลายไร่ ที่จะมีดอกกระเจียวขึ้นอย่างหนาแน่นจนกลายเป็นทุ่ง ซึ่ง เวลามองดูก็จะเห็นเป็นสีชมพูปนขาว และมีสีเขียวของลำต้ันและก้านใบเป็นสีเขียวสด ประกอบกับสีเขียว ของหญ้าทีขึ้นมาแซม ทำให้ทุ่งกระเจียว เขียวขจี สวยงามเหมือนกับทุ่งในทรวงสวรรค์เลย โดยในช่วงฤดูฝน เริ่มต้นเดือนมิถุนายน ถึง ปลายเดือนกรกฎาคม ของทุก ๆ ปี ต้นกระเจียวจะออก ดอกสวยงามตระการตาไปทั่วผืนป่า จัดได้ว่าเป็น "นางเอกของอุทยานฯ" ก็ว่าได้ ทั้งนี้เพราะดอกกระเจียว จะไม่มีให้เห็นเลยนอกเสียจากในช่วงเวลาที่ว่านี่เท่านั้น...

"สุดแผ่นดิน" อยู่ทางด้านทิศเหนือของที่ทำการอุทยานฯ เป็นแนวหน้าผาและชะง่อนหิน เป็นจุดสูงสุดบนเทือกเขา พังเหย สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลประมาณ 846 เมตร เกิดจากการดันตัวของแผ่นดินภาคกลาง (ฉานไทย) ซุกเข้าไปใต้แผ่นดิน อีสาน (อินโต - ไซน่า) ทำให้เกิดแผ่นดินที่ยกตัวสูงชัน เรียกว่า "สุดแผ่นดิน" คือเขตรอยต่อของ 3 ภาคอันได้แก่
1. แผ่นดินซีกทางอุทยานฯ เป็นเขตของ จ.ชัยภูมิ (ภาคอีสาน)
2. แผ่นดินซีกทางตะวันตกของอุทยานฯ เป็นเขตของ จ.ลพบุรี (ภาคกลาง)
3. แผ่นดินซีกทางเหนือของอุทยานฯ เป็นเขตของ จ.เพชรบูรณ์ (ภาคเหนือ)ซึ่งมีความสวยงาม อากาศเย็นสบาย และในตอนเช้า ๆ จะมีกลุ่มหมอกลอยผ่านหน้าเราไป เหมือนกับหยอกเย้ากับผู้มาเยือนเลย
