ความเป็นมาของวิทยาลัยนานาชาติ
วิทยาลัยนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล (Mahidol University
International College - MUIC) จัดตั้งเมื่อปีพุทธศักราช 2529
ในรูปโครงการหลักสูตรปริญญาตรี สำหรับนักศึกษานานาชาติ
(International Students Degree Program - ISDP) เป็น
สถาบันที่ก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อจัดการศึกษาหลักสูตรนานาชาติ ในระดับ
ปริญญาตรีแห่งแรกของมหาวิทยาลัยภาครัฐในประเทศไทย และต่อ
มาเปลี่ยนมาใช้ชื่อว่า วิทยาลัยนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล (
Mahidol University International College – MUIC ) ในปี
พุทธศักราช 2539 เปิดการเรียนการสอนด้านวิทยาศาสตร์
ศิลปศาสตร์ พยาบาลศาสตร์ และบริหารธุรกิจ โดยใช้ภาษาอังกฤษ
เป็นสื่อในการเรียนการสอน มีฐานะเทียบเท่าคณะวิชา ระบบบริหาร
จัดการแบบนอกระบบราชการภายใต้การกำกับของมหาวิทยาลัย
มหิดล ให้การศึกษาแบบ Liberal Arts Education ซึ่งเป็นรูปแบบ
การศึกษาที่ให้นักศึกษาได้เรียนรู้รอบด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ คณิตศาสตร์
ศิลปศาสตร์ ภาษาศาสตร์ และมนุษยศาสตร์ มีกิจกรรมเสริมหลักสูตร
ได้แก่ ศูนย์ปฏิบัติการโรงแรมศาลายาพาวิลเลี่ยน ศูนย์ปฏิบัติการ
บริหารเป็นบริษัทจำลอง และชมรมนักศึกษาต่างๆ ของสโมสรนัก
ศึกษาวิทยาลัยฯ และส่งเสริมให้รู้จักศิลปวัฒนธรรมรวมทั้งมารยาท
ไทยและสากลด้วย ซึ่งเป็นพื้นฐานในการผลิตบัณฑิตของวิทยาลัย
นานาชาติให้มีคุณภาพ มีภาวะเป็นผู้นำ ประกอบอาชีพของตนเอง
