บริษัท เชฟรอนประเทศไทยสำรวจและผลิต จำกัด เป็นผู้บุกเบิกการสำรวจและผลิตปิโตรเลียมในอ่าวไทยมาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2505 โดยมุ่งเน้นการปฏิบัติงานด้วยความเป็นเลิศในทุกๆ ด้าน มีผลการปฏิบัติงานด้านความปลอดภัยที่ได้มาตรฐานระดับโลก พร้อมระบบการจัดการด้านสุขภาพและสิ่งแวดล้อม ที่น่าเชื่อถือ ปลอดภัยและมีประสิทธิภาพ

แหล่งก๊าซธรรมชาติเอราวัณของเชฟรอนนับเป็นแหล่งก๊าซธรรมชาติแหล่งแรกของประเทศไทย เริ่มทำการผลิตตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2524 นับจากนั้นเป็นต้นมา ก๊าซธรรมชาติได้กลายเป็นแหล่งพลังงานที่สำคัญในการสร้างความเจริญทางเศรษฐกิจและความเข้มแข็งให้กับประเทศมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง

ปัจจุบัน เชฟรอนสามารถผลิตได้ทั้งก๊าซธรรมชาติ ก๊าซธรรมชาติเหลว และน้ำมันดิบ โดยก๊าซธรรมชาติที่เชฟรอนผลิตได้ในประเทศไทยสามารถนำไปผลิตไฟฟ้าคิดเป็นประมาณร้อยละ 50 ของความต้องการใช้ก๊าซธรรมชาติในประเทศ ก๊าซธรรมชาติที่ผลิตได้ส่วนใหญ่นำไปใช้ในการผลิตกระแสไฟฟ้า และคิดเป็นสัดส่วนมากกว่า 1 ใน 4 ของภาคการผลิตไฟฟ้าโดยรวม ส่วนที่เหลือนำไปใช้เป็นเชื้อเพลิงในโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม เชื้อเพลิงยานพาหนะ ก๊าซหุงต้ม และวัตถุดิบในอุตสาหกรรมปิโตรเคมี ทั้งนี้ก๊าซธรรมชาติที่ผลิตได้ทั้งหมดส่งให้กับบริษัท ปตท. จำกัด (มหาชน) ซึ่งปตท.จะส่งก๊าซผ่านท่อใต้ทะเลไปยังโรงแยกก๊าซธรรมชาติของปตท. ที่จังหวัดระยองและนครศรีธรรมราช เพื่อเข้าสู่กระบวนการต่อไป

ปัจจุบัน เชฟรอนประเทศไทยสำรวจและผลิต มีสำนักงานใหญ่ตั้งอยู่ที่กรุงเทพมหานคร และมีสำนักงานสาขาตั้งอยู่ที่จังหวัดสงขลา จังหวัดชลบุรี และจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช โดยมีพนักงานกว่า 2,000 คน (90% เป็นคนไทย) และมีพนักงานจากบริษัทผู้รับเหมากว่า 1,600 คน โดยประมาณ
