RCEP ย่อมาจาก Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership หรือภาษาไทย คือ “ความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจในภูมิภาคของอาเซียน”

หมายถึงข้อริเริ่มของอาเซียนในการขยายการรวมกลุ่มทางเศรษฐกิจในภูมิภาค โดยการจัดทำความตกลงการค้าเสรีร่วมกันเป็นฉบับเดียว โดยเริ่มแรกมีเป้าหมายจะจัดทำความตกลงดังกล่าวกับประเทศภาคีFTAs ปัจจุบันของอาเซียน หรือ ASEAN+6 (คือ ASEAN และ จีน เกาหลีใต้ ญี่ปุ่น ออสเตรเลีย นิวซีแลนด์และอินเดีย) ที่สนใจเข้าร่วมก่อน ส่วนประเทศอื่นๆ จะสามารถเข้าร่วมได้ภายหลังจากที่การเจรจา RCEP เสร็จสิ้นแล้ว ทั้งนี้อาเซียนคาดว่าจะสามารถประกาศเริ่มการเจรจา RCEP ได้ภายใน ปลายปี2555 หรือไม่เกินต้นปี2556
