งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพระหว่างการใช้ตัวกรองก๊าซเชื้อเพลิงที่ใช้ซังข้าวโพด, ถ่านและกาบมะพร้าว, ถ่าน เป็นวัสดุตัวกรองในการดักจับน้ำมันดิน(Tar) จากก๊าซเชื้อเพลิงในระบบแก๊สซิฟิเคชั่นซึ่งผลการศึกษาพบว่า ปริมาณน้ำมันดิน (Tar)ที่วัดได้หลังจากการผลิตก๊าซเชื้อเพลิง ไหลผ่านตัวกรองที่ใช้ซังข้าวโพดมีปริมาณทาร์ คร้งที่ 1 และครั้งที่ 2 56.7 mg/Nm3, 73.5 mg/Nm3 และประสิทธิภาพการกรองอยู่ที่ 88.66%, 86.30% ตามลำดับ ปริมาณทาร์ที่ออกจากตัวกรองที่ใช้กาบมะพร้าวมีปริมาณทาร์คร้งที่ 1 และครั้งที่ 2 94.7 mg/Nm3 , 69.5 mg/Nm3 และประสิทธิภาพการกรองอยู่ที่ 81.06%, 86.10% ตามลำดับซึ่งพบว่า ตัวกรองที่ใช้ ซังข้าวโพดมีประสิทธิภาพการกรองน้ำมันดินที่ดีกว่าตัวกรองที่ใช้กาบมะพร้าว
ดังนั้นเพื่อบำรุงรักษาเครื่องยนต์และเพื่อไม่ให้ประสิทธิภาพของการผลิตกระแสไฟฟ้าลดน้อยลง ในงานวิจัยนี้จึงได้ใช้ตัวกรองก๊าซผลิตภัณฑ์เพื่อทำความสะอาดก๊าซก่อนเข้าเครื่องยนต์ผลิตกระแสไฟฟ้า โดยตัวกรองเลือกใช้ มี 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ซังข้าวโพดและกาบมะพร้าวเพื่อนำมาเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพการกรองน้ำมันดิน (Tar) ที่เกิดขึ้นในระบบ
