นายสุรสิงห์ แสงเจริญ อายุ 34 ปี ผจก.ด้านความปลอดภัยและสิ่งแวดล้อมประจำโครงการฯชี้แจงว่า ที่พักคนงานเริ่มเข้ามาดำเนินการตั้งแต่เดือนสิงหาคม 2556 เพื่อรับเหมาก่อสร้างในโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆ เริ่มแรกมีคนงานอาศัยอยู่ประมาณ 400 คน ปัจจุบันมีคนงาน 1,600 คน ที่อาศัยอยู่ในโครงการ ทาง อบต.บ้านแลง เคยเข้ามาแจ้งว่ามีชาวบ้านได้รับความเดือดร้อนเรื่องน้ำเสีย ทางโครงการก็ได้สร้างบ่อบำบัดไปแล้ว แต่เนื่องจากปริมาณคนอาศัยมีจำนวนมากจึงไม่เพียงพอ และช่วงสงกรานต์ที่ผ่านมามีฝนตกลงมาจึงทำให้น้ำเสียมีปริมาณมากขึ้น ทางโครงการฯจึงได้ทำเพิ่มและดำเนินการปิดหัวท้ายของลำรางเพื่อจะใช้เครื่องดูดน้ำกลับมาบำบัด คาดว่าจะแล้วเสร็จภายในเดือนพฤษภาคมนี้.
