การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบการปฏิบัติงานของอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน ตามโครงการส่งเสริมอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) เชิงรุก พ.ศ.2552 ในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครราชสีมา โดยจำแนกตาม อายุ อาชีพ ระยะเวลาในการปฏิบัติงาน และพื้นที่ในการปฏิบัติงาน และศึกษาแนวทางการพัฒนาการปฏิบัติงานของอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน ตามโครงการส่งเสริมอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) เชิงรุก พ.ศ.2552 ในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครราชสีมา
การดำเนินการวิจัยแบ่งเป็น 2 ขั้นตอน โดยในขั้นตอนที่ 1 ใช้กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน จำนวน 379 คน จากการกำหนดขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่าง โดยการใช้สูตรของทาโร ยามาเน่ ใช้วิธีการสุ่มแบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเป็นแบบสอบถามแบบ ที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้นเอง มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์ความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับ เท่ากับ 0.946 สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนทางเดียว ขั้นตอนที่ 2 ผู้ให้ข้อมูลแนวทางการพัฒนาการปฏิบัติงานของอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน ตามโครงการส่งเสริมอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) เชิงรุก พ.ศ.2552 ในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครราชสีมา เป็นผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องและมีความรู้ ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน จำนวน 20 คน โดยมีเกณฑ์ในการเลือกแบบเจาะจง เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลด้วยการสัมภาษณ์จากแนวทางการสัมภาษณ์ที่สร้างมาจากผลการวิจัยในขั้นตอนที่ 1 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาและสรุปเป็นความเรียง
