นายอรรถพล ฤกษ์พิบูลย์ รองกรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ หน่วยธุรกิจน้ำมัน บริษัท ปตท.จำกัด (มหาชน) เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้ ปตท.กำลังเจรจาหาพันธมิตรเจ้าของเชนโรงแรม 3-4 รายเพื่อพัฒนาธุรกิจโรงแรมราคาประหยัด (Budget Hotel) ในสถานีบริการน้ำมัน ปตท. คาดว่าจะสามารถคัดเลือกเหลือเพียงรายเดียวในปีนี้ นับเป็นการต่อยอดธุรกิจค้าปลีกของ ปตท. เนื่องจากสถานีบริการน้ำมัน ปตท.หลายแห่งมีพื้นที่มากพอจะก่อสร้างโรงแรมฯ โดยวางเป้าหมายจะมีโรงแรมราคาประหยัดในสถานีบริการน้ำมันราว 50 แห่งภายใน 5 ปี

ปัจจุบัน ปตท.มีสถานีบริการน้ำมันประมาณ 1,400 แห่งทั่วประเทศ โดยจะทยอยลงทุน 5 ปีนี้ คาดว่าจะมีสถานีบริการน้ำมันที่มีศักยภาพที่จะตั้งโรงแรมราคาประหยัดได้ประมาณ 50 แห่ง เบื้องต้นคาดว่าขนาดโรงแรมจะอยู่ที่กว่า 70 ห้อง/แห่ง ส่วนการลงทุนนั้นอาจจะเป็นการลงทุนของ ปตท.โดยเช่าที่ดินจากดีลเลอร์ระยะยาว 20-30 ปี หรือดีลเลอร์เป็นผู้ลงทุนเองก็ได้
