วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส เดิมชื่อ วัดหงษา ตั้งอยู่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาฝั่งตะวันตก ตำบลบางปรอก อำเภอเมือง ใกล้กับตลาดสดเทศบาลปทุมธานี สร้างขึ้นสมัยพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี (สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช) ผู้ริเริ่มก่อสร้างไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานที่แน่ชัด วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส เป็นวัดของชนชาวมอญ ที่ได้อพยพเข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานที่ตำบลบางปรอก โดยการนำของพระยาเจ่ง เมื่อครั้งที่ได้ต่อสู้กับกองทัพพม่า แต่สู้ไม่ได้ พระยาเจ่งจึงได้พาครอบครัวชาวมอญอพยพมากรุงธนบุรี เพื่อหวังพึ่งพระบรมโพธิสมภารพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี (สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช)พระองค์จึงทรงโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ครอบครัวชาวมอญที่มากับพระยาเจ่งพักอาศัยอยู่ที่เมืองสามโคกและเมืองนนทบุรี
สิ่งที่น่าเชื่อถือว่า วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส เป็นวัดที่สร้างขึ้นโดยชนชาวมอญ คือ สัญลักษณ์ของชนชาวมอญ ประการแรก คือ เสาหงษ์ และตัวหงส์บนยอดเสา ซึ่งหมายถึง เมืองหงสาวดี ซึ่งเคยเป็นเมืองหลวงของชนชาวมอญ ประการที่สอง คือ เจดีย์ทรงมอญ ซึ่งเป็น เจดีย์ที่ได้จำลองแบบมาจาก เจดีย์จิตตะกอง ประการที่สาม คือ วิหารซึ่งจำลองมาจากกรุงหงสาวดี ปัจจุบันวิหารได้ถูกรื้อถอนไปหมดแล้ว ในพระอุโบสถมีพระพุทธชินราชจำลองและพระประธานในพระอุโบสถหลังเก่าประดิษฐานเป็นพระประธาน ที่วิหารพระมีรูปหล่อ พระพุทธชินราช หลวงพ่อโสธร หลวงพ่อวัดเขาตะเครา สมเด็จพระพุทธาจารย์(โต) หลวงปู่เฒ่า หลวงปู่เอี่ยม ที่ชาวบ้านนับถือ และมีศาลาการเปรียญประดับด้วยไม้แกะสลักสวยงาม
ต่อมาเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2485 ได้เปลี่ยนชื่อจาก วัดหงษา มาเป็น วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส จึนถึงปัจจุบัน วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาสมีเนื้อที่จำนวน 11 ไร่ 3 งาน 32 ตารางวา ชุมชนที่อาศัยบริเวณรอบวัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส เดิมเป็นชุมชนชาวมอญที่ได้อพยพเข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานสมัยพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี (สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช) โดยประกอบอาชีพด้านการเกษตรกรรมและการทำเครื่องปั้นดินเผา ในปัจจุบันชาวมอญดังเดิมได้เสียชีวิต บางส่วนย้ายถิ่นฐานไปอยู่ที่อื่นบ้าง และชาวมอญรุ่นหลัง ๆ ได้แต่งงานกับคนไทย จนกลายเป็นคนไทยเชื้อสายรามัญ ในปัจจุบัน
วัดแห่งนี้ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศโครงการอนุรักษ์พันธุ์ปลาหน้าวัด มีพันธุ์ปลาต่างๆ มากมายที่อาศัยอยู่ในแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาเช่น ปลาสวาย ปลาเทโพ ปลาแรด ปลาตะเพียน และปลาอื่นอีกหลายชนิด ว่ายมาชุมนุมอาศัยกันอยู่เนืองแน่นเพื่อรอรับอาหารจากผู้มาทำบุญไหว้พระที่ วัดและมาเที่ยวที่ "วัดหงษ์ปทุมาวาส
