งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาประวัติของหมออรุณ บุญวงค์ วิธีการรักษา องค์ความรู้ ปัญหา อุปสรรคและแนวทางในการอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญาการรักษากระดูกและข้อ ของหมออรุณ บุญวงค์ ตำบลขอนหาด อำเภอชะอวด จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ได้ศึกษาโดยการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจาก หมออรุณ บุญวงศ์ และผู้ที่มารับการรักษากระดูกและข้อกับหมออรุณ บุญวงศ์ จำนวน 10 คน โดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์และใช้การสังเกตอย่างมีส่วนร่วม
