ขอเชิญพุทธศาสนิกชนและนักท่องเที่ยวร่วมงาน "วันวิสาขบูชา ห่มผ้าพระเจดีย์ชัยมงคล วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล" ในวันที่ 20 พฤษภาคม 2559 ณ วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา

วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา ขอเชิญพุทธศาสนิกชนและนักท่องเที่ยวทุก ๆ ท่านร่วมงานบุญใหญ่ในวันวิสาขบูชา ซึ่งในปีนี้ตรงกับวันศุกร์ที่ 20 พฤษภาคม 2559 ซึ่งทางวัดได้กำหนดจัดงานบุญ ห่มผ้าพระเจดีย์ชัยมงคล


สำหรับ "พระเจดีย์ชัยมงคล" นี้ตามประวัติศาสตร์ในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา สันนิษฐานว่าสร้างขึ้นในสมัยสมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราช ครั้งที่พระองค์ทรงชนะศึกยุทธหัตถีกับพระมหาอุปราชาแห่งกรุงหงสาวดี ครั้งนั้นเหล่าทหารตามเสด็จช้างทรงออกศึกไปไม่ทัน จึงมีโทษถึงประหารชีวิต สมเด็จพระวันรัต จึงได้ขอบิณฑบาตชีวิตทหารเหล่านั้นเอาไว้ สมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราชจึงทรงอภัยโทษให้ และให้ทหารสร้างอนุสรณ์ที่แสดงถึงชัยชนะของพระองค์ จึงเป็นที่มาของพระเจดีย์ชัยมงคลองค์นี้ขึ้นมา

ต่อมาในปัจจุบันก็มีนักท่องเที่ยวและประชาชนทั่วไปให้ความเคารพต่อสมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราชอย่างมาก ด้วยความศรัทธานี้ทางวัดจึงได้จัดประเพณีห่มผ้าองค์พระเจดีย์ชัยมงคลขึ้นมา เพื่อถวายเป็นพุทธบูชาในวันวิสาขบูชา และถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่องค์สมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราช พร้อมกับบุรพกษัตริยาธิราชและเหล่าทหารของกรุงศรีอยุธยา ซึ่งในแต่ละปีมีผู้เข้าร่วมประเพณีห่มผ้าองค์พระเจดีย์เป็นจำนวนมาก ดังนั้นทางการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย (ททท.) จึงขอประชาสัมพันธ์ให้พุทธศาสนิกชนและนักท่องเที่ยวทุก ๆ ท่านมาร่วมประเพณีห่มผ้าองค์พระเจดีย์ชัยมงคลในวันและเวลาดังกล่าวเพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคลต่อตนเองและครอบครัว ซึ่งในหนึ่งปีจัดขึ้นเพียงครั้งเดียวเท่านั้น

โดยกิจกรรมจะเริ่มตั้งแต่เวลา 08.00 น. พิธีทำบุญตักบาตรตามประเพณีของไทยในวันวิสาขบูชา ณ ศาลาการเปรียญวัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล ต่อมาเวลาประมาณ 08.19 น. เริ่มขบวนแห่ผ้าห่มพระเจดีย์ชัยมงคล และเชิญผ้าขึ้นห่มองค์พระเจดีย์
