สำหรับภาพรวมการเติบโตของอุตสาหกรรมพลาสติกในช่วง 7 เดือนแรกของปี 2557 (ม.ค.-ก.ค.)ที่ผ่านมา มียอดการส่งออกทั้งสิ้นมูลค่ารวม 254,412 ล้านบาท ปัจจุบันมีอัตราการขยายตัวเฉลี่ยที่ร้อยละ 18 ซึ่งประเทศส่งออกหลักของไทย ได้แก่ จีน, สหรัฐอเมริกา และญี่ปุ่น ทั้งนี้เมื่อแยกเป็นการส่งออกเม็ดพลาสติกมีมูลค่ารวม 184,191.76 ล้านบาท และผลิตภัณฑ์พลาสติกมูลค่ารวม70,220 ล้านบาท
