ปัจจุบันประเทศไทยได้มีการเซ็นสัญญาความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจระหว่าง 10 ประเทศในอาเซี่ยน และจะเปิดประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซี่ยนเป็นรูปธรรมในวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม 2558 ในวันนั้นจะเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ขึ้น โดยสื่อมวชนจะต้องเป็นตัวกลางที่สำคัญที่จะสื่อสารกับประชาชน สื่อจะต้องปรับตัวเพื่อเข้าสู่ปะรชาคมอาเซี่ยนได้อย่างเต็มรูปแบบและเตรียมรับมือกับสื่อมวลชนในประเทศอาเซี่ยนที่จะเข้ามาแข่งขันกันมากขึ้นเช่นกัน
