ประวัติ พระร่วงโรจนฤทธิ์ วัดพระปฐมเจดีย์ จ.นครปฐม
วัดพระปฐมเจดีย์ เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นเอกพิเศษ ชนิดราชวรมหาวิหาร ตั้งอยู่ใน ต.พระปฐมเจดีย์ อ.เมือง จ.นครปฐม วัดแห่งนี้ เป็นที่ตั้งประดิษฐานองค์พระปฐมเจดีย์ ปูชนียสถานเก่าแก่ที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในไทย

ทั้งนี้ วัดพระปฐมเจดีย์ ยังมี "พระร่วงโรจนฤทธิ์" พระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ประจำจังหวัดนครปฐม เป็นที่เคารพบูชาของพุทธศาสนิกชนทั่วไป มีชื่อเต็ม คือ "พระร่วงโรจนฤทธิ์ ศรีอินทราทิตย์ ธรรโมภาส มหาวชิราวุธ ราชปูชนียบพิตร" ตามประกาศกระแสพระบรมราชโองการ ลงวันที่ 12 ตุลาคม พุทธศักราช 2466 แต่ประชาชนทั่วไป เรียกขานว่า "หลวงพ่อพระร่วง" หรือ "พระร่วงโรจนฤทธิ์"

จึงโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้อัญเชิญลงมากรุงเทพฯ แล้วให้ช่างปั้นสถาปนาขึ้นมาบริบูรณ์เต็มพระองค์ และโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้จัดการพระราชพิธีเททองหล่อ เมื่อวันที่ 30 ธันวาคม 2456 ณ วัดพระเชตุ พนวิมลมังคลาราม กรุงเทพฯ โดยมีผู้ออกแบบ คือ กรมหลวงนเรศร์วรฤทธิ์ (พระองค์เจ้ากฤษฎาภินิหาร)

จากนั้นได้อัญเชิญมาสู่จังหวัดนครปฐม เมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคม พ.ศ.2457 ทางรถไฟ ประดิษฐาน ณ พระวิหารด้านทิศเหนือ องค์พระปฐมเจดีย์ วัดพระปฐมเจดีย์ราช วรมหาวิหาร จนถึงปัจจุบัน

เมื่อครั้งอัญเชิญพระร่วงฯ มาประ ดิษฐานยังองค์พระปฐมเจดีย์ จำเป็นต้องแยกชิ้นมาประกอบเข้าด้วยกันที่จังหวัดนครปฐม เสร็จเป็นองค์สมบูรณ์ เมื่อวันที่ 2 พฤศจิกายน 2458
