การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื

การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบประเพณีงานปลาไหล อำเภอชุมพลบุรี จังหวัดสุรินทร์ และ 2) เพื่ออนุรักษ์ประเพณีงานปลาไหล ทำการศึกษาและเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากประชากรที่อาศัยอยู่ในตำบลชุมพลบุรี จำนวน 400 ครัวเรือน มีการคัดเลือกตัวอย่างโดยไม่ใช้ความน่าจะเป็น (Non-Probability Sampling) ใช้วิธีการเก็บตัวอย่างแบบสะดวก (Convenience Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้คือ แบบสอบถามแบบมีโครงสร้าง และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติ เชิงพรรณนา
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบประเพณีงานปลาไหล ของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามมีระดับความคิดเห็นโดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก ( x̄ = 4.19; S.D. = 0.41 ) ซึ่งประเด็นที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยมากที่สุด คือ 1) การสื่อภาพลักษณ์ของการสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมอีสาน (x̄ = 4.65; S.D. = 2.63 ) 2) การให้ประชาชนมีส่วนร่วมในงาน ( x̄ = 4.55; S.D. = 2.17 ) 3) การตกแต่งรถขบวนแห่ประเพณีงานปลาไหล ( x̄ = 4.54; S.D. = 0.68 ) และในประเด็นที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยน้อยที่สุด คือ 1) ความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธ์ประจำหมู่บ้าน (x̄ = 3.07; S.D. = 1.07) 2) ความเชื่อที่มาตั้งแต่ดั้งเดิม (x̄ = 3.43; S.D. = 0.86) 3) ความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติ (x̄ = 3.49; S.D. = 0.91) ตามลำดับ ระดับความคิดเห็นข้างต้นเป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่มีความสำคัญต่อการจัดงานประเพณีงานปลาไหลของอำเภอชุมพลบุรี โดยประเพณีดังกล่าวนี้สามารถส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ให้เป็นที่รู้จักมากยิ่งขึ้น และที่สำคัญเป็นการอนุรักษ์ประเพณีของชุมชนโดย คนในชุมชน ให้คงอยู่กับชุมชนสืบไป
