ศึกษา (1) รูปแบบ ปริมาณการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ และต้นทุนการผลิตข้าว (2) ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยพื้นฐานส่วนบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านเศรษฐกิจ ปัจจัย ด้านสังคม ปัจจัยด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม กับ ความรู้ ทัศนคติ และการปฏิบัติเกี่ยวกับการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ และ (3) ข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ในนาข้าวของเกษตรกรผู้ปลูกข้าวในอำเภอแม่สรวย จังหวัดเชียงราย จำนวน 347 ราย พบว่า เกษตรกรมีรูปแบบการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ร่วมกับปุ๋ยเคมี ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ที่ใช้ในการปลูกข้าวมากที่สุดคือ ปุ๋ยคอก รองลงมาคือ ปุ๋ยหมัก และ ปุ๋ยพืชสด มีต้นทุนการผลิตข้าวนาปีไร่ และนาปรัง เฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 3,577.10 และ 4,010.50 บาท/ไร่ ตามลำดับ
เกษตรกรมีการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ร่วมกับปุ๋ยเคมีในการปลูกข้าว ใช้ปุ๋ยมูลโค-กระบือเป็นในการข้าวมากที่สุดและใช้ ปุ๋ยพืชสดในการปลูกข้าวในปริมาณที่น้อยมากเกษตรกรมีต้นทุนผันแปรของการผลิตข้าวนาปีและนาปรังเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 3557 และ 4010 บาท/ไร่ ตามลำดับ ปัญหาสำคัญที่พบ ที่เกี่ยวกับการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ในนาข้าวของเกษตรกร คือ การขาดความรู้ทั้งด้านการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ร่วมกับปุ๋ยเคมีที่ดี จากการศึกษาในส่วนของความคิดเห็นของเกษตรกรด้านการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ในอนาคต พบว่า เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ยังคงให้ความสนใจ สนับสนุนให้มีการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ในการปลูกข้าว อีกทั้งยังต้องการความรู้เกี่ยวกับปุ๋ยอินทรีย์เพิ่มเติม จึงน่าจะเป็นอีกปัจจัยที่ดี ที่เจ้าหน้าที่หรือ หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องจะเพิ่มความเข้มข้นในการดำเนินการส่งเสริมการใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ในการปลูกข้าวแก่เกษตรกรมากขึ้น ทั้งจะเป็นการปรับเปลี่ยนทัศนคติด้านปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ให้ดียิ่งขึ้น และเพื่มเสริมความรู้เกี่ยวกับการปุ๋ยอินทรีย์แก้เกษตรกรด้วย
