หลักสูตรวิศวกรรมการผลิต มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี

มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี จัดตั้งขึ้นเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการในการพัฒนากาลังคนของประเทศในสาขาวิชาที่ขาดแคลนและมีความต้องการกาลังคนสูง โดยเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่เน้นให้การศึกษาวิชาการและวิชาชีพชั้นสูงด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี รวมทั้งวิทยาการและเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ที่สอดคล้องต่อความต้องการและสภาพสังคมไทยในอนาคต นอกจากนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยยังเน้นบทบาทด้านการวิจัยและพัฒนา ด้านการปรับแปลง พัฒนาและถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีในเรื่องที่จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการพัฒนาประเทศ โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้ประเทศไทยสามารถพึ่งพาตนเองด้านเทคโนโลยีได้ดียิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับยุทธศาสตร์สาคัญของแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติฉบับที่ 11 มคอ.2 (พ . ศ . 2555-2559) คือ การสร้างฐานการผลิตให้เข้มแข็ง สมดุล อย่างสร้างสรรค์ การสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมที่เอื้ออานวยต่อการผลิต การค้า การลงทุน การพัฒนาคุณภาพคนทั้งความรู้คู่คุณธรรม และเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันของประเทศ การพัฒนาบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความสามารถด้านวิศวกรรมการผลิตขั้นสูงที่เป็นการบูรณาการวิทยาการและความรู้ทางด้านการออกแบบและวิเคราะห์ชิ้นส่วนและการเคลื่อนที่ ความรู้ทางด้านวัสดุศาสตร์ ความรู้ทางด้านกระบวนการผลิต และความรู้ทางด้านการจัดการการผลิต จึงมีความสาคัญอย่างยิ่ง
