This 24m x 9m fast passenger catamaran for Australia is the third one in a row for one of our Australian clients who appreciates the excellent sea keeping capabilities and economical fuel consumption that these vessels have. These designs are very efficient and would also make excellent ferries for Thailand, as they can be set up for day trips and diving also.
*Gold Coast Ships Ltd is now building vessels 10 & 11, since moving to Thailand 4 years ago. Seven of which have been Australian clients.
* This 24m Seacat we are launching now was designed by Australian designer, Paul Birgan (who also works for and is a part shareholder of Gold Coast Ships Ltd)
* This vessel build provided jobs and training for local Thai tradesmen, as well as income for many Thai businesses that we purchase from.
* It shows also that we can build to international standards of safety and efficiency from Ocean Marina Yacht Club.
* When the vessel leaves Thailand, it will work the waters off Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, carrying day trippers and divers every day. The vessel is powered by 2 x 965hp MTU engines for a maximum speed of around 28 knots (52km/h), and will carry 100 day divers, but in a ferry configuration this vessel can carry up to 200 passengers.
The vessel has an electric hydraulic rear dive platform that lowers into the water and allows passengers to walk straight down steps straight into the water. It has 4 x toilets and showers as well as a kitchen and serving area. It is also fitted with the latest helm navigation electronics providing safety for passengers and crew.
