ในปัจจุบันนี้จะเห็นได้ว่าผู้ป่วยส่วนใหญ่มักมีปัญหาในการลืมทานยา ซึ่งจากการศึกษาพบว่า เมื่อลืมทานยาบ่อยครั้งจะเกิดผลเสียต่างๆ อาทิเช่น ทำให้สิ้นเปลืองค่าใช้จ่ายมากขึ้น เพราะผู้ป่วยบางคนอาจมีอาการดื้อยา หรืออาจทำให้ร่างกายของผู้ป่วยนั้นอ่อนแอลงได้
ทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้เล็งเห็นถึงปัญหานี้ จึงได้ระดมความคิดที่จะประดิษฐ์เครื่องแจ้งเตือนการทานยาอัตโนมัติแบบพกพา เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาในการลืมทานยาของผู้ป่วยและอำนวยความสะดวกให้กับผู้ดูแลผู้ป่วย ซึ่งทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้เลือกใช้ Arduino UNO R3 ในการทำเครื่อง โดยได้มีแนวคิดในการประดิษฐ์ให้เครื่องนี้สามารถแจ้งเตือนเมื่อถึงเวลา ส่วนรูปร่างของตัวเครื่อง ทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้ใช้โปรแกรม Pro Engineer การออกแบบ ซึ่งโปรแกรมนี้จะออกแบบเป็นภาพ 3 มิติ สามารถมองเห็นได้อย่างชัดเจน และระบบการทำงานภายในตัวเครื่อง คือ แจ้งเตือนการทานยาเป็น 4 มื้อ คือ มื้อเช้า กลางวัน เย็น และก่อนนอน สำหรับช่องในการบรรจุยามีทั้งหมด 8 ช่อง ซึ่งทำให้สามารถบรรจุยาได้เป็นเวลา 1 วัน เพราะแต่ละมื้อผู้ป่วยบางท่านต้องทานยาในเวลาที่แตกต่างกัน อาทิเช่น ก่อนอาหาร หรือหลังอาหารตามที่แพทย์สั่ง ซึ่งการทำงานของระบบภายในตัวเครื่องนั้น ทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้ใช้โปรแกรม Arduino ในการสั่งการระบบต่างๆ อาทิเช่น มีระบบการแจ้งเตือนแบบไฟกระพริบเมื่อถึงเวลาทานยา มีระบบการแจ้งเตือนแบบเสียงเมื่อถึงเวลาทานยา เป็นต้น
