ประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศหนึ่งที่มีความหลายหลากทางวัฒนธรรมสูง ดูได้จากการแสดงพื้นบ้านของแต่ละภูมิภาคจะมีความแตกต่างกันออกไป และมีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะของแต่ละภาค เช่น ในภาคกลางมีการเล่น ลิเก รำตัด เพลงฉ่อย ภาคใต้มี มโนราห์ เพลงบอก ภาคเหนือมี ค่าวซอ และภาคอีสานมี หมอลำ ซึ่งในบทความชิ้นนี้ผู้เขียนจะเล่าถึง “หมอลำ” วัฒนธรรมการแสดงพื้นเมืองเก่าแก่ที่ยังคงละเล่นกันในปัจจุบัน
