นอกจากเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงจะมีประโยชน์ต่อประเทศไทย ทั้งยังมีความสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาในต่างประเทศ การประยุกต์นำหลักปรัชญาเพื่อนำไปพัฒนาประเทศในต่างประเทศเหล่านั้น ประเทศไทยได้เป็นศูนย์กลางการแลกเปลี่ยนผ่านทางสำนักงานความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาระหว่างประเทศ โดยมีหน้าที่คอยประสานงานรับความช่วยเหลือทางวิชาการด้านต่าง ๆ จากต่างประเทศมาสู่ภาครัฐ แล้วถ่ายทอดต่อไปยังภาคประชาชน และยังส่งผ่านความรู้ที่มีไปยังประเทศกำลังพัฒนาอื่น ๆ เรื่องปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงนั้น สำนักงานความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาระหว่างประเทศได้ถ่ายทอดมาไม่ต่ำกว่า 5 ปี และประสานกับสำนักงานคณะกรรมการพิเศษเพื่อประสานงานโครงการอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ และคณะอนุกรรมการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง ซึ่งต่างชาติก็สนใจเรื่องเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง เพราะพิสูจน์แล้วว่าเป็นสิ่งที่ดีและมีประโยชน์ ซึ่งแต่ละประเทศมีความต้องการประยุกต์ใช้ปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงไม่เหมือนกัน ขึ้นอยู่กับวิถีชีวิต สภาพภูมิศาสตร์ของแต่ละประเทศ โดยได้ให้ผู้แทนจากประเทศเหล่านี้ได้มาดูงานในหลายระดับ ทั้งเจ้าหน้าที่ปฏิบัติงาน เจ้าหน้าที่ฝ่ายนโยบาย จนถึงระดับปลัดกระทรวง และรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงต่าง ๆ
