ตามประกาศกระทรวงมหาดไทย ลงวันที่ 1 ตุลาคม 2545 , 20 ธันวาคม 2545, 18 ตุลาคม 2547, 6 พฤษภาคม 2548 และ 23 มิถุนายน 2554 คนต่างด้าวที่ถือหนังสือเดินทางของ 48 ประเทศ/เขตเศรษฐกิจ ซึ่งเดินทางเข้ามาในราชอาณาจักรเป็นการชั่วคราวเพื่อการท่องเที่ยว ได้รับยกเว้นการตรวจลงตรา และอนุญาตให้พำนักอยู่ในราชอาณาจักรได้ครั้งละไม่เกิน 30 วัน
หมายเหตุ คนต่างด้าวที่มิใช่คนสัญชาติของประเทศดังกล่าวหรือคนไร้สัญชาติที่ถือเอกสารเดินทางสำหรับคนต่างด้าว (Travel Document for Aliens) ที่ออกโดย 48 ประเทศ/เขตเศรษฐกิจ ดังกล่าว จะไม่ได้รับยกเว้นการตรวจลงตรา และยังจำเป็นต้องขอรับการตรวจลงตราจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูต / สถานกงสุลใหญ่ไทยในต่างประเทศก่อนเดินทางมาประเทศไทย
