การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยเพื่อศึกษา 1) ระดับกาประหยัดพลังงานเชื้อเพลิงของผู้ใช้รถยนต์ในกรุงเทพมหานคร 2) ความสัมพันธ์เชิงสาเหตุและผลของตัวแบบวัดการประหยัดพลังงานเชื้อเพลิงของผู้ใช้รถยนต์ในกรุงเทพมหานคร และ 3) พัฒนาตัวแบบวัดการประหยัดพลังงานเชื้อเพลิงของผู้ใช้ รถยนต์ในกรุงเทพมหานคร
เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แบบสัมภาษณ์ (Interviewing Schedule) โดยสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้นำรถยนต์เข้ามาเติมพลังงานเชื้อเพลิงตามสถานีบริการน้ำมันและแก๊สในกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 400คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทางสถิติด้วย โปรแกรม SPSS Version 14.0 และ AMOS version 6.0 โดยใช้ค่าสถิติได้แก่ การแจกจ่ายความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยเลขาคณิต ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์โมเดลสมการโครงสร้าง
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า กลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้ใช้รถยนต์ในกรุงเทพมหานครมีความรู้ในการใช้งานเชื้อเพลิงในระดับมากที่สุด มีทัศนคติในเชิงเห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่ง และการประหยัดพลังงานเชื้อเพลิงในระดับมากทั้งรายมิติและโดยรวม ซึ่งเมื่อเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างของระดับจะแสดงให้เห็นว่า “ผู้ใช้รถยนต์ที่มีคามรู้ หรือมีทัศนคติในเชิงเห็นด้วย ในบางครั้งจะเลยหรือมองข้ามการนำความรู้หรือทัศนคติดังกล่าวมาปฏิบัติใช้อย่างเป็นกิจวัตร”
