วัดบางพลีใหญ่กลาง ตั้งอยู่บริเวณคลองสำโรงฝั่งเหนือ ตำบลบางพลีใหญ่ ห่างจากวัดบางพลีใหญ่เล็กน้อย สร้างขึ้นเมื่อประมาณ พ.ศ. 2367 ชาวบ้านละแวกบางพลี เรียกว่า วัดกลาง คงเป็นเพราะตั้งอยู่ท่ามกลางระหว่างวัดบางพลีใหญ่ในกับวัดคงคาราม (วัดยายหนู) ซึ่งเป็นวัดร้างไปแล้ว เดิมที่ตั้งวัดเป็นที่ดินของนายช้างหมื่นราษฎร์ โดยนาย น้อย หมื่นราษฎร์ พี่ชายเป็นผู้สร้างขึ้นและได้ขนานนามวัดว่า "วัดน้อยปทุมคงคา"เพราะได้ขุดสระปลูกบัวหลวงไว้ด้วย ต่อมาเปลี่ยนนามวัดใหม่ว่า "วัดราษฎร์ศรัทธาธรรม" และครั้งสุดท้ายเปลี่ยนเป็น "วัดบางพลีใหญ่กลาง" โดยมิปรากฏแน่ชัดว่าเปลี่ยนใน สมัยเจ้าอาวาสรูปใด

วัดบางพลีใหญ่กลางได้รับพระราชทาน วิสุคามสีมาเมื่อ วันที่ 13 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2478 เขตวิสุคามสีมา กว้าง 40 เมตร ยาว 80 เมตร ในด้านการศึกษาทางวัดจัดให้มีการเรียนพระปริยัติธรรมตลอดมา นอกจากนี้ยังได้สนับสนุนการศึกษาของชาติโดยให้ความร่วมมือกับทางราชการ ให้ที่วัดสร้างโรงเรียนทั้งระดับประถมศึกษา(โรงเรียนวัดบางพลีใหญ่กลาง) และมัธยมศึกษา(โรงเรียนบางพลีราษฎร์บำรุง) ด้วยเจ้าอาวาสตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบันทั้งหมด 8 รูป
