ที่อยู่ วัดพระธาตุพนมวรมหาวิหาร อ. ธาตุพนม



ประวัติ

1. สร้างขึ้นระหว่าง พ.ศ. 1200 – 1400

2. ตามตำนานกล่าวว่าผู้สร้างคือ

- พระมหากัสสปะ

- พระอรหันต์ 500 องค์

- ท้าวพระยาเมืองต่าง ๆ

3. พระธาตุพนมได้ล้มทลายลงทั้งองค์

- 11 สิงหาคม 2518 เวลา 19.38 น.

- เนื่องจากความเก่าแก่ขององค์พระธาตุพนม

และฝนตกพายุพัดแรงติดต่อกันมาหลายวัน

- ประชาชนทั้งประเทศได้ร่วมบริจาคทุนทรัพย์

และรัฐบาลได้ก่อสร้างองค์พระธาตุขึ้นใหม่ตามแบบเดิม

การก่อสร้างนี้เสร็จสิ้นเมื่อวันที่ 23 มีนาคม 2522



ความสำคัญ

- บรรจุพระอุรังคธาตุของพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าไว้

- เป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจของชาวนครพนม

- เป็นที่เคารพของชาวไทยภาคอื่น ๆ และชาวลาวอีกด้วย

- ว่ากันว่าถ้าใครได้มานมัสการพระธาตุครบ 7 ครั้ง

จะถือว่าเป็น " ลูกพระธาตุ " เป็นสิริมงคลแก่ชีวิต

และจะมีความเจริญรุ่งเรือง หรือแม้แต่การได้มากราบ

พระธาตุพนม 1 ครั้ง ก็ถือเป็นมงคลแก่ชีวิตแล้ว

- พระอารามหลวงชั้นเอกขึ้นเป็น " วรมหาวิหาร " ( พ.ศ. 2485 )

- พระธาตุพนมถือเป็นพระธาตุปีเกิดของคนเกิดปีวอก

- พระธาตุประจำวันเกิดของผู้เกิดวันอาทิตย์
