นวัตกรรมทางการศึกษาที่ยึดแนวความคิดพื้นฐานเป็นหลัก สามารถแบ่งได้เป็น 4 ประเภท

4.ทฤษฏีการสื่อสาร คือกระบวนการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลระหว่างบุคคล โดยใช้สัญลักษณ์ สัญญาณ หรือพฤติกรรมที่เข้าใจกัน
5. ทฤษฏีระบบ จัดเป็นสาขาวิชาที่เกิดขึ้นช่วงปลายศรวรรษที่ 20 โดยอาศัยทฤษฏีหลายสาขาวิชา โดยนำแนวคิดแต่ละวิชามาประยุกต์รวมกัน สร้างเป็นทฤษฏีระบบขึ้นมา
6. ทฤษฏีการเผยแพร่ เกิดจากการผสมผสานทฤษฏีหลักการ และความรู้ ความจริงจากหลานสาขาวิชา มาเป็นนวัตกรรมของศาสตร์นั้นๆ มาเผยแพร่ขึ้น
