บทที่ 1 การประชุมในที่นี้มีความหมายถึง

ขั้นตอนหรือกระบวนการร่วมกันของกลุ่มคน เพื่อเป้าหมายในการดำเนินธุรกิจ ซึ่งมีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่งในการดำเนินงานขององค์กร การประชุมที่ดีนั้น จะช่วยในการตัดสินใจของคณะการวางแผนและติดตามผล การมอบหมายความรับผิดชอบ ซึ่งถ้ามีการดำเนินการประชุมอย่างมีประสิทธิ ก็จะทำให้องค์กรมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยการประชุมทั่วๆ ไปนั้นจะแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ประเภท คือ
1.1 การประชุมเพื่อแจ้งข้อมูลข่าวสาร เป็นการประชุมเพื่อทำความเข้าใจในความเปลี่ยนแปลงต่างๆ ขององค์กร นโยบายเป้าหมาย และกลยุทธ์ต่างๆ จัดการประชุมให้กระชับโดยใช้เวลาสั้นๆ
1.2 การประชุมเพื่อเร่งเร้าจูงใจและประกาศเกียรติคุณ ในยามที่องค์กรต้องการรวบรวมพลัง ความมุ่งมั่นทุ่มเทของพนักงาน ที่จะฝ่าวิกฤติหรือพิชิตเป้าหมายอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่งควรดำเนินการตั้งชื่อการประชุมนี้ให้น่าสนใจ เช่น “พลังสู่ความสำเร็จ” , ถ้ามีงบประมาณเพียงพอควรเลือกจัดในสถานที่ ที่ได้บรรยากาศดีๆ , ควรมีวิทยากรที่มีชื่อเสียงเป็นที่รู้จัก ร่วมบรรยายด้วยสัก 1 ช่วง, ในตอนท้ายของการประชุม ถือได้ว่าเป็นช่วงเวลาที่สำคัญที่สุด ที่ผู้บริหารระดับสูงจะได้เร่งเร้า และจูงใจให้พนักงานทุกคนฮึกเหิม และให้คำมั่นสัญญาต่อกันว่า จะร่วมกัน – สามัคคีกันปฏิบัติพันธกิจนั้นให้สำเร็จให้จงได้
1.3 การประชุมเพื่อร่วมกันคิดสร้างสรรค์ เป็นวิธีการอันหนึ่งที่สำคัญในการบริหารให้องค์กรนั้นๆเป็นองค์กรที่มีความคิดสร้างสรรค์อย่างต่อเนื่อง และเป็นการฝึกให้สมาชิกทุกคนในองค์กร มีทักษะในการคิดวิเคราะห์ ซึ่งจะเป็นคุณสมบัติที่สำคัญ ของทีมงานในทศวรรษหน้า
1.4 การประชุมเพื่อร่วมกันตัดสินใจ ในการประชุมลักษณะนี้ องค์ประชุมจะต้องประกอบด้วย ผู้นำประชุมที่เป็นผู้บริหารระดับสูง หรือผู้นำองค์กร และสมาชิกผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมก็จะต้องเป็นผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้อง และมีอำนาจการตัดสินใจสั่งการในระดับหน่วยงานผู้ปฏิบัติงาน ไม่ควรเกิน 10 – 12 คน การประชุมที่มีผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมจำนวนมากๆ บ่อยครั้ง จะทำให้ได้แต่ข้อมูลความคิดเห็นและข้อเสนอแนะ แต่การสรุปเพื่อให้ได้ผลในการร่วมกัน
