โครงงานวิจัยนี้ได้ศึกษาการจัดการห่วงโซ่อุปทานการผลิตโคขุน กรณีศึกษากลุ่มผู้เลี้ยงโคขุน อำเภอดอกคำใต้ จังหวัด พะเยา ซึ่งในปัจจุบันเป็นการเลี้ยงโคขุนในระบบห่วงโซ่อุปทานโคขุนดอกคำใต้เดิม เป็นการเลี้ยงปล่อยทุ่งและเลี้ยงโดยใช้อาหารสำเร็จรูป หรือกากเบียร์ปริมาณมากในแต่ละวัน รวมทั้งปัญหาการขาดแคลนหญ้าที่จะนำมาเป็นอาหารสัตว์ในหน้าแล้ง และการขนส่งมีค่าใช้จ่ายสูงถึง 1,500 บาทต่อตัว อีกทั้งระหว่างการเดินทางขนส่งยังทำให้เกิดการสูญเสียน้ำหนักของโคกว่าร้อยละ 7 - 8 เปอร์เซ็นต์ เป็นต้น
