ประวัติ[แก้]หม่ำ จ๊กมก เกิดวันที่ 24 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2508 ที่อำเภอยโสธร จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี (ปัจจุบันคือจังหวัดยโสธร) มีพี่น้อง 7 คน เป็นคนกลาง มีน้องสาวที่เล่นตลกคือ แวว จ๊กมก ออกจากบ้านตั้งแต่อายุ 16-17 ปี มาทำงานอยู่กับวงดนตรีลูกทุ่งของ สดใส รุ่งโพธิ์ทอง เป็นวงแรก โดยเริ่มทำงานในตำแหน่งคอนวอย (เด็กยกของ) ก่อนจะได้เลื่อนขึ้นมาเป็นหางเครื่อง และตลกตามลำดับ หลังจากนั้น หม่ำ ได้ย้ายไปทำงานกับวงดนตรีลูกทุ่งหลายวง เช่น เกรียงไกร กรุงสยาม, โชคชัย โชคอนันต์ และ สุพรรณ สันติชัย หลังจากนั้น หม่ำ จ๊กมก ตัดสินใจ รวมตัวกับเพื่อนศิลปินตลก ตั้งตลกคณะเก้ายอดขึ้น ก่อนที่ในที่สุด จะได้รับการชักชวนให้มาเล่นตลกในคณะ เทพ โพธิ์งาม ทำให้หม่ำแสดงตลกร่วมกับคณะเทพ โพธิ์งามมาตลอด โดยใช้ชื่อขณะนั้นว่า "หม่ำ สปาเก็ตตี้" ภายหลังจึงเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น "หม่ำ จ๊กม๊ก" โดยรับหน้าที่เป็นตัวประกอบรับมุกในคณะของ เทพ โพธิ์งาม จนหม่ำเริ่มดังเป็นที่รู้จัก เทพ โพธิ์งาม เห็นหม่ำสามารถยืนได้ด้วยตัวเองแล้ว จึงไล่ให้หม่ำออกจากคณะเทพ โพธิ์งาม เพื่อไปตั้งคณะตลกเอง โดยหม่ำได้ออกไปตั้งคณะให้ชื่อว่า คณะหม่ำ จ๊กมก โดยมีสมาชิกคนสำคัญ เช่น จาตุรงค์ มกจ๊ก, เท่ง เถิดเทิง, โหน่ง ชะชะช่า, เป๋อ จ๊กมก เป็นต้น

ในปี พ.ศ. 2535 หม่ำ จ๊กมก ได้รับการชักชวนจาก ปัญญา นิรันดร์กุล ให้มาร่วมทำงานกับบริษัท เวิร์คพอยท์ เอ็นเทอร์เทนเมนท์ โดยได้มาทำหน้าที่เป็นตัวปริศนาในรายการ ชิงร้อยชิงล้าน ในช่วงชิงบ๊วย ครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 5 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2535 และนับแต่บัดนั้นเป็นต้นมา หม่ำ จ๊กมก ก็ทำงานร่วมกับเวิร์คพอยท์มาตลอดจนถึงปัจจุบัน ผลงานสำคัญของหม่ำ ในฐานะพิธีกรรายการเกมโชว์ต่าง ๆ ของเวิร์คพอยท์ เช่น เวทีทอง, ระเบิดเถิดเทิง เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ เคยมีผลงานเพลงแนวลูกทุ่งหมอลำมาแล้วด้วยโดยเพลงดังคือเพลง เฮดจังได๋

ปัจจุบัน หม่ำ จ๊กมก ได้เป็นผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์ โดยมีภาพยนตร์เรื่องแรกคือ บอดี้การ์ดหน้าเหลี่ยม และ แหยม ยโสธร ที่ทำรายได้เกิน 100 ล้านบาท เป็นเจ้าของ บริษัท เครือบั้งไฟตระกูลวงษ์คำเหลา จำกัด (มหาชน) และ บั้งไฟ ฟิล์ม ผลิตภาพยนตร์ และ บั้งไฟ สตูดิโอ ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ (ดูเพิ่มที่ข้อมูลเครือบั้งไฟตระกูลวงษ์คำเหลา) คือรายการบิ๊กหม่ำ และละคร แฟกทอรีที่รัก พร้อมกับยังรับงานแสดงอยู่ และทำธุรกิจร้านอาหาร โรงลาบยโสธร ติดห้างเดอะมอลล์ บางแค อีกด้วย

ในด้านชีวิตครอบครัว หม่ำสมรสกับ "มด" เอ็นดู วงษ์คำเหลา หลังใช้ชีวิตคู่มาถึง 22 ปี ก็พึ่งจะได้จัดงานแต่งงานด้วยกันโดยที่ปัญญา นิรันดร์กุล เป็นผู้จัดให้ในฐานะลูกน้องที่ร่วมงานกันมานาน และมีบุตรด้วยกันสองคนคือ "เอ็ม" นางสาวบุษราคัม วงษ์คำเหลา และ "มิกซ์" นายเพทาย วงษ์คำเหลา โดยขณะนี้ทั้งคู่กำลังศึกษาเกี่ยวกับภาพยนตร์อยู่ที่เมืองโตรอนโต ประเทศแคนาดา
