โครงการวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการกำหนดจุดจอดรถบริการการแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน ของโรงพยาบาลสกลนคร โดยใช้ข้อมูลทุติยภูมิจากโรงพยาบาลสกลนคร ในเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2557 ถึงเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2558 ได้แก่ ปริมาณความต้องการรับบริการ ตำแหน่งของจุดเกิดเหตุ และตำแหน่งจุดจอดรถบริการการแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน โดยโรงพยาบาลสกลนครได้มีนโยบายกำหนดให้รถบริการการแพทย์ฉุกเฉินต้องออกจากจุดจอดรถไปถึงที่เกิดเหตุภายในเวลามาตรฐาน (Standard Response Time) เท่ากับ 8 นาที ในเขตรัศมี 10 กม. เทคนิคที่นำมาใช้ในการกำหนดจุดจอดใหม่ของรถบริการการแพทย์ฉุกเฉินคือ การใช้โปรแกรม Google Earth และ โปรแกรม Quantum GIS และใช้วิธีจุดศูนย์กลาง (Center of Gravity Method) เพื่อคำนวณหาจุดจอดที่เหมาะสม จากการเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพที่คำนวณได้จากจุดศูนย์กลาง โดยพิจารณาจากสายเรียกเข้าพบว่าจุดจอดเดิมที่มีอยู่ในปัจจุบันทั้ง 13 จุด สามารถครอบคลุมพื้นที่การให้บริการสายเรียกเข้าได้เพียง 3,781 สาย ในขณะที่จุดจอดใหม่มี 13 จุด สามารถครอบคลุมพื้นที่การให้บริการได้ถึง 4,982 สาย
