หัตถกรรมเครื่องจักสาน เป็นภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นของชุมชนที่เก่าแก่อย่างหนึ่ง ที่มนุษย์ทำขึ้นเป็นเครื่องมือเครื่องใช้ วัตถุดิบที่มีอยู่ในท้องถิ่น กรรมวิธีการทำเครื่องจักรสานเริ่มจากการใช้วัตถุดิบจากธรรมชาติเช่น ไม้ไผ่หรือตอก ซึ่งเป็นวัสดุที่ใช้ในการจักสาน เช่น การทำหมวกตอกกระติบข้าว เป็นต้น ด้วยนำวัสดุ มาทำให้เป็นเส้นเป็นแฉก เพื่อความสะดวกในถักตอก กว่าจะได้ตอกออกมามีวิธีการทำหลายขั้นตอน เช่น การจัก การฉีก การสาน หนึ่งในวิธีการทำที่ยากนั้นคือ การฉีกตอก ในปัจจุบันการฉีกตอก ใช้แค่มีดในการฉีกทำได้ยากและเสียเวลา ถ้าไม่ระมัดระวังอาจเกิดอันตรายต่อผู้ทำได้
