มนุษย์กับธรรมชาตินั้นมีความสัมพันธ์อย่างแน่นแฟ้นกันมานาน นับตั้งแต่มนุษย์เริ่มปรากฏขึ้นมาบนพื้นโลก มนุษย์ก็เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของธรรมชาติ    มนุษย์อาศัยอยู่ในธรรมชาติและพึ่งพาธรรมชาติเป็นปัจจัยในการดำรงชีวิต ธรรมชาติจึงเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตมนุษย์ มนุษย์กับธรรมชาติจึงเป็นส่วนของกันและกัน  มนุษย์กับธรรมชาติไม่อาจแยกตัวออกจากกันได้  เมื่อใดก็ตามที่ทั้งมนุษย์และธรรมชาติแยกตัวออกจากกัน  เมื่อนั้นเราย่อมสรุปได้อย่างแน่ชัดว่าทั้งมนุษย์และธรรมชาติกำลังมุ่งสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงสู่หายนะด้วยกันทั้งสองฝ่าย   มนุษย์นั้นดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้โดยอาศัยปัจจัยพื้นฐานที่มาจากธรรมชาติ หรือที่เราเรียกกันว่า ปัจจัยสี่นั่นเอง  เป็นที่แน่ชัดว่าปัจจัยทั้งสี่ของชีวิต ย่อมได้มาจากการแปรสภาพหรือการทำลายส่วนหนึ่งของธรรมชาติ  ในอดีตนั้นผู้คนใช้ชีวิตอยู่ภายใต้อิทธิพลของธรรมชาติ เกื้อหนุนและจุนเจือกับธรรมชาติ  การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางธรรมชาติจึงเกิดขึ้นอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไปอยู่ในวิสัยที่ธรรมชาติสามารถจะปรับสมดุลด้วยตัวของมันเองได้  ผลกระทบจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่าง  จึงยังไม่ปรากฏให้เห็นมากนัก    แต่เมื่อมนุษย์มีจำนวนเพิ่มมากขึ้น มีความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีมากขึ้น ธรรมชาติก็ถูกเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างมากมายและรวดเร็วเพียงเพื่อตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของมนุษย์    โลกในปัจจุบันที่ได้ก้าวเข้ามาสู่ยุคแห่งการแข่งขันทาง เศรษฐกิจ  ส่งผลให้เกิดการทำลายล้างธรรมชาติอย่างรุนแรงจนถึงระดับที่ธรรมชาติเริ่มเสียสมดุล และก่อให้เกิดความเดือดร้อนแก่มนุษย์ผู้ทำลายธรรมชาติเอง  ในวันนี้หลายคนอาจตั้งคำถามที่จะต้องขบคิดกันว่า ในที่สุดมนุษย์จะถึงกับทำลายธรรมชาติที่ตนได้อาศัยเลี้ยงชีวิตมาตั้งแต่สมัยอดีตจนหมดสิ้นหรือไม่และจนสุดท้ายแล้วชีวิตของมนุษย์เองจะถูกทำลายตามไปด้วยหรือเปล่า
          ดังนั้นเพื่อความอยู่รอดของมนุษย์ มนุษย์จะต้องเปลี่ยนวิถีการดำเนินชีวิตมาสู่การใช้ชีวิตอย่างยั่งยืนโดยก่อนอื่นนั้นเราจะต้องเข้าใจและยอมรับหน้าที่ในฐานะที่มนุษย์ มนุษย์จะต้องมีจิตสำนึก มีความรับผิดชอบในผลของการกระทำและการตัดสินใจใน เรื่องต่างๆ  การพัฒนาของมนุษย์จะต้องไม่กระทบกระเทือนหรือทำลายความเป็นเอกภาพหรือสมดุลของธรรมชาติ มนุษย์ทุกคนต้องมีความรับผิดชอบต่อผลกระทบที่ตนก่อให้เกิดแก่ธรรมชาติ มนุษย์ต้องอนุรักษ์ความหลากหลายของธรรมชาติ เพราะความหลากหลายในธรรมชาติเป็นเสมือนรากฐานสำคัญของสิ่งมีชีวิตทุกชนิดและเป็นสิ่งที่จะทำให้สิ่งมีชีวิตทุกชนิดสามารถดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้ ท้ายสุดนี่ขอทิ้งท้ายด้วยบทกลอนที่น่าจะสะท้อนภาพของมนุษย์กับธรรมชาติว่าควรจะดำรงไปในรูปแบบใด
ธรรมชาติในที่นี้ หมายถึงธรรมชาติที่มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ มีต้นไม้ที่เขียวขจี ไม่มีต้นไม้ที่ถูกทำลาย ด้วยฝีมือมนุษย์ เราจะมีธรรมชาติที่สวยงามได้ ต้องช่วยกันปลูกป่าทดแทน เราจึงได้เห็นธรรมชาติที่เราได้สร้างชีวิตให้มันขึ้นมาใหม่ เราควรภูมิใจในการกระทำในทางที่ถูก เพราะเราทุกคนก็รักธรรมชาติเหมือนกัน 
และธรรมชาติยังมีอีกหลายรูปแบบ เช่นธรรมชาติที่หาดูได้ค่อนข้างยากทีเดียว เช่น พระอาทิตย์ขึ้น พระอาทิตย์ตกที่มีสีสวยงามคือ สีแดงแสดคงจะเป็นธรรมชาติที่หลายคนคงชอบหรือบ้างก็ชอบเกี่ยวกับ ท้องฟ้าและท้องทะเลที่มีสัตว์น้ำปะการัง ดอกไม้ทะเลที่อยู่ใต้ทะเลที่มีความสวยงามหรือว่าท้องฟ้ากับทะเลยามเย็น เพราะจะเป็นช่วงพระอาทิตย์ตกทะเลจึงทำให้แสงนั้นมีสีสันเต็มท้องทะเล  เราจึงมีความรู้สึกว่าธรรมชาตินั้นยังมีสิ่งที่สวยงามที่เรามองเห็นมันได้ ธรรมชาตินั้นทำให้เรารู้สึกดีกับมันและเป็นเพื่อนที่ดีกับเราตลอดไป
