อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่วงก์
อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่วงก์ มีพื้นที่ครอบคลุมท้องที่อำเภอปางศิลาทอง จังหวัดกำแพงเพชร และอำเภอแม่วงก์ และอำเภอแม่เปิน จังหวัดนครสวรรค์ พื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่เป็นแหล่งกำเนิดต้นน้ำลำธาร ตามเทือกเขาสูงชันก่อกำเนิดเป็นน้ำตกที่สวยงาม 4-5 แห่ง ทั้งเป็นต้นกำเนิดของแม่น้ำแม่วงก์อันเป็นต้นน้ำของแม่น้ำสะแกกรัง นอกจากนี้ยังมีแก่งหินทำให้เกิดน้ำตกเล็กๆ ตามแก่งหินนี้ ตลอดจนมีหน้าผาที่สวยงามตามธรรมชาติ อุทยานมีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 558,750 ไร่ หรือ 894 ตารางกิโลเมตร ซึ่งในขณะนี้รัฐบาลกำลังดำเนินการก่อสร้างเขื่อนแม่วงก์ในเขตพื้นที่อุทยานด้วย

นายสวัสดิ์ คำประกอบ รัฐมนตรีประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรีมีหนังสือ [2]ถึงปลัดกระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ (ดร.เถลิง ธำรงนาวาสวัสดิ์) ขอให้จัดพื้นที่ป่าแม่วงก์-แม่เปิน จังหวัดนครสวรรค์ซึ่งมีสภาพธรรมชาติและน้ำตกที่สวยงามหลายแห่ง สภาพป่าอุดมสมบูรณ์และเป็นป่าต้นน้ำลำธาร กำหนดเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ กองอุทยานแห่งชาติ กรมป่าไม้ จากการสำรวจหาข้อมูล ปรากฏว่า พื้นที่ดังกล่าว ส่วนใหญ่เป็นเทือกเขาสูงเป็นต้นกำเนิดของลำน้ำแม่วงก์ มีเอกลักษณ์ทางธรรมชาติที่สวยงาม เช่น น้ำตกแม่กระสาหรือน้ำตกแม่กี ซึ่งสูงประมาณ 200 เมตร และหน้าผาต่างๆ สภาพป่าที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ด้วยพันธุ์ไม้และสัตว์ป่านานาชนิด เหมาะสมที่จะจัดตั้งเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ [3]

กองอุทยานแห่งชาติ กรมป่าไม้ ได้นำเสนอคณะกรรมการอุทยานแห่งชาติ ซึ่งมีมติในการประชุมครั้งที่ 1/2528 เมื่อวันที่ 2 เมษายน 2528 เห็นชอบให้กำหนดพื้นที่ดังกล่าวเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติซึ่งประกาศไว้ในราชกิจจานุเบกษา[4] เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติลำดับที่ 55 ของประเทศ

ลักษณะภูมิประเทศ[แก้]

สภาพภูมิประเทศเป็นเทือกเขาสูงสลับซับซ้อนเรียงรายกันอยู่ตามเทือกเขาถนนธงชัยลดหลั่นลงมาจนถึงพื้นราบ ประมาณ 40-50 ลูก ยอดที่สูงที่สุดคือ “ยอดเขาโมโกจู” สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลประมาณ 1,964 เมตร เป็นแหล่งต้นน้ำลำธารต้นกำเนิดของลำน้ำแม่วงก์ ส่วนพื้นที่ราบมีไม่มาก ส่วนใหญ่อยู่บริเวณริมแม่น้ำ[5]
