นายณัชพล ปุญญะยันต์ หรือ กอล์ฟ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 3 กรกฎาคม 2532 ที่กรุงเทพมหานคร เป็นบุตรคนโตของคุณพ่อวรพลและคุณแม่สุวรรณ ปุญญะยันต์ มีน้องสาว 1 คน คือ นางสาวณัชวรรณ ปุญญะยันต์

ในระดับมหาวิทยาลัย นายณัชพล ได้รับคัดเลือกเป็นหัวหน้าชั้นปีของนักศึกษา ภาควิชาเคมี ซึ่งงานส่วนนี้นายณัชพลได้ดูแลอย่างไม่ขาดตกบกพร่องด้วยความเอาใจใส่ในทุกๆรายละเอียด ทำให้เป็นที่รักและที่ไว้ใจของเพื่อนๆนักศึกษาร่วมชั้น เสมอมา และในชั้นปีที่ 4 ได้ดำรงตำแหน่งอุปนายกสโมสรนักศึกษา ฝ่ายกิจกรรม ซึ่งรับผิดชอบโครงการสำคัญจำนวนมาก แต่ที่มีหลักฐานปรากฏเด่นชัด คือ การจัดงานเทศน์มหาชาติเพื่อสมทบทุนสร้างพระประธานและศาลาประดิษฐานพระพุทธมงคลนิมิตวิทยมหิดลญาณ พระพุทธรูปประจำคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ ดังประจักษ์แด่ชาวคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหิดลทุกท่าน
ในทุกๆกิจกรรมของคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มีน้อยกิจกรรมนักที่นายณัชพลจะไม่มีส่วนรวม แต่หากพูดถึงสิ่งที่รักและชื่นชอบเป็นพิเศษ คือ กิจกรรมด้านดนตรีและการขับร้อง ซึ่งความสามารถด้านนี้ได้ฉายแววตั้งแต่สมัยเรียนในวัยประถมที่สามารถอ่านโน้ตดนตรีได้อย่างแม่นยำ ตั้งแต่การเรียนชั้นปีที่ 1 นายณัชพลได้มีส่วนจัดตั้งชมรมขับร้องประสานเสียง คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหิดลจนเป็นรูปเป็นร่าง และได้สร้างชื่อเสียงโดยการคว้ารางวัลจากๆหลายๆเวทีประกวดทั้งภายในและภายนอก ส่วนผลงานอีกชิ้นหนึ่งที่เป็นที่กล่าวถึงเสมอมา คือ การเป็นผู้กำกับดนตรีในละครเวทีการกุศลประจำคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ ถึงสามเรื่อง ได้แก่ เพียงเธอ, แอนโดรเมดา, และรักคุณเข้าอีกแล้ว นายณัชพลเป็นเรี่ยวแรงสำคัญในการประพันธ์ดนตรี ปรับแต่งทำนองของทุกๆบทเพลง จนทำให้เพลงของละครเวทีดังกล่าวเป็นที่นิยมชมชอบและติดหูคนฟังเสมอมา
สิ่งที่นับว่าเป็นเกียรติประวัติอันสูงสุดของวงศ์ตระกูล คือในปีพุทธศักราช 2551 นายณัชพล ปุญญะยันต์ได้รับคัดเลือกจากคณะกรรมการจัดงานวันเด็กแห่งชาติเพื่อเข้ารับรางวัลผู้มีความสามารถดีเด่นและสร้างชื่อเสียงให้แก่ประเทศ จากพลเอกสุรยุทธ์ จุลานนท์ นายกรัฐมนตรีขณะนั้น
ทั้งหมดนี้เป็นเพียงส่วนหนึ่งของกิจกรรมและผลงานที่ประจักษ์ชัดแด่สาธารณชน ด้วยความที่เป็นคนที่มีความตั้งใจในการทำงาน จริงใจต่อเพื่อน และเอาใจใส่ในความรู้สึกของผู้คนที่อยู่รอบข้าง ทำให้นายณัชพลเป็นที่รักของญาติ พี่น้อง เพื่อนฝูง ครูอาจารย์ จนปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่าเขาเป็นคนที่พร้อมไปด้วยความดีคนหนึ่งที่งดงามทั้งกาย วาจา และใจ
แต่แล้วราวกลางดือนเมษายน นายณัชพลได้มีอาการป่วย และเข้ารับการรักษาตัวที่โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี แพทย์วินิจฉัยว่าเกิดจากโรคแพ้ภูมิคุ้มกันของตนเอง ตลอดระยะเวลาการรักษาท่ามกลางการดูแลเอาใจใส่ของบิดามารดาที่ตื่นมาด้วยความหวังในทุกเช้าว่าอาการของบุตรชายจะดีขึ้น แต่ในทุกเย็นสิ่งที่หวังกลับไม่เป็นดังคาด นายณัชพลได้ใช้ชีวิตต่อสู้กับโรคร้ายดังกล่าวได้เป็นเวลาเดือนเศษ จนถึงเวลาราวสองทุ่ม ของคืนวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม 2558 โรคร้ายได้พรากชีวิตคนดีที่สุดคนหนึ่งไปอย่างไม่มีวันกลับ รวมสิริอายุได้ 25 ปี 10 เดือน 26 วัน
