รายจ่ายฝ่ายทุน (Capital expenditures) หมายถึง รายจ่ายที่จ่ายไปแล้วทำให้ประโยชน์ หรืออายุของสินทรัพย์เพิ่มขึ้น ในอนาคต มากกว่าหนึ่งงวดบัญชี
รายจ่ายฝ่ายรายได้ (revenue expenditures) หมายถึง รายจ่ายที่จ่ายไปแล้วมิได้ทำให้อายุ หรือประโยชน์จาการใช้สินทรัพย์เพิ่มขึ้น หรือ เพิ่มขึ้นไม่เกินรอบบัญชีนั้น
การพิจารณาค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับรายจ่ายฝ่ายทุนและรายจ่ายฝ่ายรายได้ของสินทรัพย์
