ปิยะพร ศักดิ์เกษม เป็นนามปากกาของ นันทพร ศานติเกษม (23 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2498- ) เป็นธิดาของ นายชวน สุนทรส และ นางช้อย (บุปผเวส) สุนทรส เกิดที่ตำบลบางปลาสร้อย อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี

คู่สมรสคือ นายปิยะศักดิ์ ศานติเกษม

ปิยะพร ศักดิ์เกษม เริ่มสนใจงานเขียนมาตั้งแต่วัยเด็ก โดยมีพื้นฐานจากการรักการอ่าน ได้รับการส่งเสริมจากบิดามารดา สนใจและรักหนังสือทุกประเภทโดยเฉพาะนวนิยายและวรรณคดี เมื่อเรียนจบจากคณะครุศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในปี พ.ศ. 2521 ได้ทดลองเขียนเรื่องสั้นส่งไปลงตามนิตยสารต่างๆ เช่น สกุลไทย ขวัญเรือน ดิฉัน...และได้รับการคัดเลือกให้ลงพิมพ์เรื่อยมา จนกระทั่งคุณสุภัทร สวัสดิรักษ์บรรณาธิการนิตยสารสกุลไทย เปิดรับนวนิยายของนักเขียนหน้าใหม่จึงได้ทดลองเขียนนวนิยายซึ่งเป็นงานที่ ถนัดและสนใจมากที่สุดส่งไปทางไปรษณีย์ เมื่อนวนิยายเรื่องแรกคือเรื่อง "ตะวันทอแสง"ได้ลงพิมพ์ในปี พ.ศ. 2533 ก็ได้เขียนนวนิยายลงพิมพ์นิตยสารสกุลไทยและอื่นๆ มาตลอดเป็นนักเขียนรุ่นเดียวกันกับ กิ่งฉัตรปิยะพร ศักด์เกษม มีหลักในการทำงานเขียนนวนิยายว่า ต้องให้คุณธรรมความรู้ และให้แง่คิดกับชีวิต สอดแทรกอยู่ในความบันเทิงด้วย
