ฉัตรารัศมิ์ แก้วมรกต หรือ ร่มแก้ว เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 15 พฤศจิกายน 2523 เริ่มการศึกษาที่โรงเรียนเซนต์โยเซฟ ทิพวัล ต่อชั้นมัธยมต้นที่โรงเรียนนวมินทราชินูทิศ เตรียมอุดมศึกษาพัฒนาการ ก่อนจะย้ายมาเรียนชั้นมัธยมปลายที่โรงเรียนเตรียมอุดมศึกษา และศึกษาต่อจนจบปริญญาตรีจากคณะนิเทศศาสตร์ เอกวารสารสนเทศ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จากนั้นในปี 2544 เข้าทำงานเป็นผู้สื่อข่าวที่หนังสือพิมพ์เดอะ เนชั่น รับผิดชอบข่าวทั่วไปและสกู๊ปข่าวด้านสังคม ก่อนจะย้ายมาทำงานด้านประชาสัมพันธ์ให้กับสำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ (สสส.) ในปัจจุบันบนเส้นทางชีวิตการเป็นนักเขียน ร่มแก้ว เริ่มงานเขียนตั้งแต่เรียนอยู่ชั้น ม.2 โดยมีหนังสือเล่มแรกในชีวิตเป็นหนังสือ กลอนวัยรุ่น ตีพิมพ์กับ สำนักพิมพ์ใยไหม จากนั้นเริ่มเขียนเรื่องสั้นและนวนิยายจริงจังในช่วงเรียนมหาวิทยาลัย โดยได้ส่งเรื่องสั้นไปตามนิตยสาร ต่าง ๆ เป็นระยะ ๆ

เริ่มงานเขียน
ร่มแก้ว เริ่มงานเขียนตั้งแต่เรียนอยู่ระดับมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 โดยมีหนังสือเล่มแรกในชีวิตเป็นหนังสือ กลอนวัยรุ่น ตีพิมพ์กับ สำนักพิมพ์ใยไหม จากนั้นเริ่มเขียนเรื่องสั้นและนวนิยายจริงจังในช่วงเรียนมหาวิทยาลัย โดยได้ส่งเรื่องสั้นไปตามนิตยสาร ต่างๆ ไม่นานก็เริ่มคิดเรื่องของตนเอง เริ่มคิดอยากมีผลงานของตนเองออกเป็นเล่ม ๆ บ้าง ก็เลยให้เวลากับการเขียนหนังสือ จนกระทั่งเรียนจบจึงลองส่งนวนิยายที่เขียนไว้เสนอไปยังนิตยสาร สำนักพิมพ์ และโพสต์ลงตามเว็บไซต์ต่าง ๆ กระทั่ง “แอบรักออนไลน์” เป็นนวนิยายเรื่องแรกที่ผ่านการพิจารณา และได้รับการตีพิมพ์กับสำนักพิมพ์ปริ๊นเซส ในเครือสถาพรบุ๊คส์ในปี 2548

จากนั้นก็มีผลงานนวนิยายออกสู่สายตาแฟน ๆ อย่างต่อเนื่องโดยส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นแนวรัก ได้แก่ เรื่อง “สุดแดนหัวใจ” พิมพ์กับสำนักพิมพ์พิมพ์คำ ในเดือนตุลาคม 2549 และล่าสุดคือเรื่อง “หัวใจไม่เคยหยุด (รัก)” ตีพิมพ์เมื่อเดือนมีนาคม 2550 ตามมาด้วย “365 วันแห่งรัก” นอกจากนั้นยังมีผลงานนวนิยายเรื่อง “แม่น้ำนี้ชื่อนิจนิรันดร์” แนวความรักย้อนอดีต และผลงาน คุณชายปวรรุจ ในนิยายชุด สุภาพบุรุษจุฑาเทพ
