การจัดทำโครงงานครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะของเอเลี่ยนสปีชีส์ในผักตกชวามีเนื้อหาความรู้ทางด้านวิชาชีววิทยา ใช้ในการดำเนินชีวิตในปัจจุบัน โดยมีการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับความเป็นมา ถิ่นกำเนิด การขยายพันธุ์อย่างรวดเร็วผลกระทบและประโยชน์ของผักตบชวาผลจากการศึกษาและจัดทำโครงงานพบว่าผู้คนส่วนใหญ่ไม่รู้ที่มาของผักตบชวา และไม่ทราบว่าผักตบชวานั้นมีดอกสีม่วงซึ่งจัดว่าเป็นเอเลี่ยนสปีชีส์ชนิดหนึ่ง ในปัจจุบันผักตบชวามีการขยายพันธุ์อย่างรวดเร็วซึ่งส่งผลกระทบในระบบนิเวศทางน้ำเป็นอย่างมากแต่ในทางตรงกันข้ามผักตบชวาส่ามารถช่วยในการกำจัดน้ำเสีย จากประโยชน์ของผักตบชวาจึงทำให้กำเนิด โครงการบำบัดน้ำเสียบึงมักกะสันอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เมื่อวันที่ 15 เมษายน และ วันที่ 20 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2528จากการสำรวจทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้รับความรู้เกี่ยวกับผักตบชวาอย่างมากอีกทั้งสามารถนำความรู้ไปเผยแพร่ให้กับผู้ที่สนใจศึกษาในเรื่องของ ผักตบชวา
