จากการศึกษาความต้องการและแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนโดยชุมชน
บ้านร่วมใจ 1 ตำบลแวงน่าง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม มีความคิดเห็นของชาวบ้านถึงระดับปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชน สาเหตุความต้องการ แก้ไขปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกิดขึ้นในชุมชนและแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนบ้านร่วมใจ 1 ตำบลแวงน่าง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ประชากรที่ใช้ในการศึกษาเพื่อหาข้อมูลในการแก้ไขปัญหาคือ ประชากรที่อาศัยอยู่ในบ้านร่วมใจ 1 จำนวนประชากรที่อาศัยอยู่ในชุมชนทั้งสิ้น 211 ครัวเรือน โดยมีกลุ่มตัวอย่างทั้งหมด 20 คน เลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง ครัวเรือนละ 1 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการจัดเก็บข้อมูลคือ แบบสอบถามความต้องการแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนโดยชุมชนบ้านร่วมใจ 1 ตำบลแวงน่าง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม จากผลการศึกษาพบว่า ความต้องการและแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนบ้านร่วมใจ 1 มีด้วยกันอยู่ 4 ด้านคือ แนวทางในการแก้ไขปัญหาขยะ แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหายาเสพติด แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาภัยแล้ง และแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาฝุ่นละออง ซึ่งปัญหาทั้ง 4 ด้านที่กล่าวมานี้เป็นปัญหาที่ชาวบ้านมีความต้องการให้ผู้ที่ศึกษาหาแนวทางในการแก้ไขปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นในชุมชน โดยผู้ที่ศึกษาให้ความคิดเห็นว่า แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาแต่ละด้านควรมีการจัดการดังนี้ 1.แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาขยะมูลฝอย ควรจะมีการจัดหาสถานที่ในกากำจัดขยะในชุมชน 2. แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหายาเสพติด ควรมีการจัดกิจกรรมนันทนาการส่งเสริมการออกกำลังการภายในชุมชน 3. แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาภัยแล้ง ควรมีอ่างเก็บน้ำที่สามารถบรรจุปริมาณน้ำได้มาก ๆ และเพียงพอต่อความต้องการของคนในชุมชนบ้านร่วมใจ 1 ตำบลแวงน่าง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม และ 4. แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาฝุ่นละออง ควรมีผ้าคลุมหรือปกปิดทุกครั้งเพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาฝุ่นละอองไม่ให้ฟุ้งกระจายและเป็นมลพิษต่อคนในชุมชน ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงเห็นว่าคนในชุมชนบ้านร่วมใจ 1 ควรจะมีมาตรการในการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชน รวมไปถึงการสอดส่องดูแลและรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนให้ยั่งยืนต่อไป
