งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ศึกษาเส้นทางที่สามารถขนส่งสินค้าไปถึงที่หมายได้อย่างประหยัดและรวดเร็ว เนื่องจากปัจจุบันประเทศลาวได้ทำการสร้างเขื่อนขึ้นที่แขวงไชยบุรีซึ่งเป็นเขื่อนผลิตไฟฟ้า แต่การขนส่งสินค้าจากภูมิภาคหนึ่งไปยังอีกภูมิภาคหนึ่งภายในประเทศนั้น ยังมีระยะทางที่ไกลและอุปสรรคของสภาพเส้นทางอยู่พอสมควร
