จากสถานการณ์ดังกล่าวจึงเห็นได้ชัดกลุ่มบุคคลที่จะได้รับประโยชน์มากที่สุด คือ บุคคลที่สามารถเข้าถึงโอกาสในการเปิด AEC ได้แก่ 1.ผู้มีการศึกษาสูง 2.ผู้ที่ได้รับการฝึกฝนทักษะแรงงานอย่างต่อเนื่อง 3.เจ้าของกิจการ ส่วนแรงงานส่วนใหญ่อีกกว่า 50 – 60% นั้น โดยเฉพาะแรงงานนอกระบบจะไม่ได้รับประโยชน์จากการเปิด AEC แม้แต่น้อย

เนื่องจากมีความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจกันระหว่างชาติที่เป็นสมาชิก (ไม่มีการกีดกันการลงทุน) และหากเหตุการณ์เช่นนี้บานปลายไปเรื่อยๆ วันหนึ่งข้างหน้าประเทศไทยจะประสบปัญหาเหมือนอย่างที่สหรัฐอเมริกาพบอยู่ในขณะนี้ ซึ่งทำให้คนอเมริกันตกงานหางานทำไม่ได้ เพราะธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมจะนิยมไปจ้างแรงงานราคาถูกที่อยู่ในประเทศอื่นดำเนินการแทน และจะเป็นปัญหาระยะยาวของไทยในวันข้างหน้าหากละเลยประเด็นเช่นนี้ไป โดยเฉพาะอุตสาหกรรมในไทยบางประเภทมีแนวโน้มที่จะย้ายฐานการผลิตไปยังประเทศเพื่อนบ้านที่มีค่าจ้างแรงงานที่ต่ำกว่า เช่น พวกสิ่งทอ รองเท้า เสื้อผ้า เครื่องนุ่งห่ม เป็นต้น
